Just hearing that Meta is going to a) cut down on fact checkers and b) promote more political content. I say good: maybe it’ll help people realise they should be getting off Meta!

Did a computer blow up? 😱

Ah, only three days later I get back to you, been run off my feet. :ROFLMAO:

I work for a national charity in the UK and in the early hours of Sunday morning it seems our website and all our related services that rely on internet went offline. Been spending a couple of days doing some mad diagnostic issues and eventually discovered that essentially, the hosting provider we pay an absolute bomb to (£xx,xxx) essentially collapsed and went under.

So I've spent the past 72 hours or so meticulously rebuilding our website & all of our services from locally stored backups that we (thankfully!) retained. Probably saved my own and everyone else's job in the process too as it's likely our funders would've quickly withdrawn support if we told them the six-figure sum we spent on website & software development a few years back was essentially down the toilet.

We got the ice here in Southern Illinois. Maybe about a half-inch. No power for about 12 hours. Quite a few tree limbs down. I have a short trail in my woods. I'll have to get the chainsaw out to make the trail passable again.
Yikes that reminds me of the ice storm we got in 2007. We were without power for a few days and I remember being bundled up underneath my blanket, my parents did the same thing. We have power thankfully. When we were staying in German Town, the lights were flickering in our hotel room because they were getting bad thunderstorms from the snow and ice storm we got in Missouri and Illinois. It was in the 60s there on Sunday. Did your power ever come back on?

Yeah, it finally did after like 12-15 hours.

2008 and 2009 were bad years for Southern Illinois as well.

We got thunderstorms during the ice storm the other night, it would have heavier freezing rain showers, too.

Hearing thunder with ice falling is pretty sketchy LOL

Glad there wasn't an ice tornado :P

We're predicted to get about 4-5 inches of snow tomorrow where I live in Texas. That's considered a lot for Texas considering we don't always get snow year-round.

I remember when I worked at Walmart we had rolling blackouts where the lights would go off and come back on. We mostly had to work in the dark. We had to use flashlights and headlights to see what we were doing.

Why did they go under?

I was going to say, you folk down south usually don't get much snow. My wife's aunt lives in Dallas, makes me wonder if her cousin who's in high school will be out of school because of the storm.

Thankfully when I worked at Walmart, I never had this happen. About the closest thing that happened was a few lights in the dairy cooler not working properly, so half of the cooler was dark. It was a large cooler at least, but my co worker freaked me out since the part that wasn't lit up was where our claims were stored and she had to dump some yogurt she found out of the cooler and she walked up from that part of the cooler as I was stocking milk lol.
