It'd be nice if this forum can have a section where members can request a review of their forum, blog or website and that any staff can give feedback on it, something that I think Forum Promotion once had years ago. There can also be an option for a quick or in-depth review.

Just a thought, that's all :)

The thing with reviews is that they require a few hours work to do them properly. You need additional staff who’s willing to do it. And in my experience, it doesn’t last long before no one wants to do them any longer. They were a huge part of our services back on InvisionFree/ZB when everyone offered them and everyone wanted to be a reviewer.

We have our Directory for bigger reviews and Topsites for brief reviews. What I suggest for now until we see some actual results that this is wanted: perhaps you could offer a credit offer where you’re requesting a review from members (and staff could join as well of course) and then we can evaluate who’s got it in them to perhaps make this into a standalone forum or even service.

Trust me, I’d love to offer it, but I’m not up personally for doing them all the time. So we need to see who’s interested in offering and requesting them, before we can take further steps.

As a side thought: maybe if the review were more targeted - board structure & layout, functionality, performance or accessibility for example - you might find it easier to spread the load.

Do I sense some interest in doing them?! 😂

I can pick up functionality and accessibility ones. Performance could be a waste of time if you’re on cloud or non-self-hosting where you don’t have the tools to make necessary changes, and I think there are better people than me to talk about board layout, structure etc.

Something in me says that having multiple people each focusing on their own speciality could be a new and interesting method to review.

We’ve always been accustomed to a reviewer taking all parts, but what if we have per example 2-3 reviewers working on 1 review request? That could make the process lighter for everyone.

This is an interesting idea. I did some reviews on FP but the amount of work required for a (y) was a little off-putting. It would need to offer value, add value, and bring value to the reviewer.

I'd actually be much more in favour of people being selective in what they're requesting rather than 'I want a review of all the things' because people will want different things at different stages of the site's lifecycle.

That could definitely be another option. Would maximum take 30mins to an hour to complete a more brief evaluation.

Conversely if someone does want all the things in one go, it’s that much more expensive and is a collaborative approach from multiple reviewers.

I don't really think this is going to get a lot of demand and will end up getting removed in the end due to lack of use but if you want to go ahead with such a service. You could make this service be a task of the content team to start and if there shows that there is enough demand for it then you can later spin it off into its own service with its own team so that way you don't hire a bunch of people to fulfill a service that ultimately doesn't work out. I would converse with your content team first before even making this move to get their input and willingness to go along with it if you end up considering this path forward. If you start it out with its own team then you risk either bloating the staff team or forcing people out if you end up deciding the service isn't going to work out and end up cutting it loose which I would rather avoid taking that risk if at all possible.
I like the thought of "drive-by" critiques more than fully blown-out reviews. Reviews can sometimes be run-ons and you can create a list of ideas you have to improve a person's board, you don't have to have everything in paragraph form. With that being said, people can already critique a user's board in the promotion forum if they so wish, so I think it's either unnecessary or as Bluezone777 mentioned, it can be an addendum to a current service.

I mean that could work but again you'd have to have 2-4 different reviewers and if you're having trouble finding members that are motivated enough to perform a review that may be an issue as well.
