Good content does deserve to be seen, however, some older content is timeless. You can set a goal of writing new content every day, then rewrite older content that isn’t exactly doing well on search and traffic.I agree—goals should be achievable with a smaller amount of effort rather than so far-fetched that you burn yourself out trying to accomplish the impossible.
A great way to set goals is by using the SMART method:
- Specific – The goal should be clear and well-defined. Instead of “I want to read more,” say, “I will read one book per month.”
- Measurable – You should be able to track progress. Instead of “I want to save money,” say, “I will save $50 from each paycheck.”
- Achievable – The goal should be challenging but possible. If you’ve never cooked before, aiming to become a gourmet chef in a month isn’t realistic, but cooking three homemade meals a week is.
- Relevant – The goal should align with your larger objectives. If your priority is getting better at public speaking, setting a goal to learn to code might not be relevant.
- Time-bound – Set a deadline or timeframe. Instead of “I want to get better at drawing,” say, “I will complete one sketch every week for the next six months.”
That’s a great goal! Blogging every day for a year is a strong commitment to consistency and growth. What happened to all your old blog posts?
People are missing out on really good content—posts packed with valuable and knowledgeable information. It’s a shame because those posts still have insights people could benefit from, but if they’re buried or gone, they’re not helping anyone.
And, selfishly… I want them back! I haven’t been able to read through all of them yet, and I know I’m not the only one. Bring them back, reshare them, or make sure they’re easy to find—because great content deserves to be seen.
That’s a tactic that will help a lot. Refresh and build upon that.
Somethings need some fresh paint sometimes.
