General MyBB's Development Release 1.9 (1 Viewer)

For discussions that don't fit other prefixes.
I have always wanted to use MyBB but for some reason I always went with SMF. It would be great for them to make it more modern and user friendly. I also like their style system for creating. If they could take that and add it the ease of addons and themes like SMF it would be great.

Yeah, about that, one of the big changes in 1.9 is to completely redo their theme system. I'm not entirely sure what they're doing is going to be a winner.

I really hope to see MyBB come out of its slump and release something modern.

It looks modern out of the box but when you go to the default theme on a mobile device, you're like "Oh, this is not a mobile site."

I've always enjoyed MyBB back when I used it. I hope they release something beautiful some day!

The mobile thing is definitely important for me. I'm back using a laptop now, but for a few years over lockdown and such I only browsed the internet using my phone. Any website that wasn't mobile-friendly quickly fell off my list of regularly visited websites, and that included a couple of the few forums I still did frequent, most of which were MyBB-powered.

I always found MyBB enjoyable and user-friendly, and the extensive amount of plugins that were developed and supported for many years in some earlier releases of the software made it probably the best free package out there at the time, in my opinion.

I remember the good old 1.6 days, when Audentio made some killer themes.

I was at the theater when @Cedric posted the link to the new style, and I had to check my Chrome settings to make sure I wasn't on "Desktop site".

In 2024? No thanks on that. :ROFLMAO:
