I use XF on the cloud and I have found the feature set they offer is amazing.

BUUUT,.....

I am also a uniformist leaning minimalist.

I found, since my style is based in the XF default style, that much of it in OEM form is litter taking up real estate.

I don't want links on the home page leading everywhere, and I don't want all the widgets on the sidebar. I don't like the thread and post column in forumview.

I removed and disabled the tag systems. I don't ever see them used enough.

A few other things.

I love the software, but I had to shave the door handles, chop the top, and bag it.

This isn't about add-ons or product enhancements.

How about you? Have you removed certain things, or streamlined certain pages or features?

What oem features do you like or dislike and remove?

I built an entire fork to refit the OEM to suit my needs :P

But the most interesting of that, really, was gutting the “unread posts” features SMF ships with because it just does not make sense or use in our world.

Holder of controversial opinions, all of which my own.

That's all I use when I visit a site I am a member of. I have the unread posts page for here bookmarked. I would be lost without it.

And for regular forums this is normal, we all do it, more or less. But roleplay forums are bizarre and have very different usage patterns. The function of “what is there for me to engage with” is fundamentally not the same. Please see my epic case study post for more deets.
