What do you do when you start drifting into a negative state of mind? Do the negative thoughts keep generating through your mind, do you occupy your time with hobbies/interests to try and defeat the thoughts, or do you try and start thinking positively instead?

What's your method for defeating the demons within?

I didn’t so much “start drifting” into a negative state of mind as much as finding myself there 20+ years ago and just figuring out how to cope since.

The worst part is when the thoughts are so intrusive they block even hobbies/interests trying to get a foothold in, and the only coping strategy is to sleep until life wants me for something again, like work.

Holder of controversial opinions, all of which my own.

I know that feeling. I always had negative energy running through my veins from the time I was a teenager into my younger twenties. It caused anxiety, depression, stress... you name it! I've always had somewhat of a skewed perception of humanity, which sometimes makes me paranoid about being around certain individuals or just thinking about bad past run-ins I've had with other people. I mainly created this topic because I was feeling this way recently when I started thinking negatively about the past and some of the hateful people I have managed to run into.

Once you get stuck in a negative spiral, it can be tough to get yourself out of it.

It's rough whenever I get in these moods. Because then it takes me longer to log into the computer and interact with people online. I also usually don't like playing video games or listening to music, I often will watch Youtube videos for hours.
