One of the most effective ways to earn from your website is by offering advertising space. There are various ad marketplaces where you can list your website for selling ads. You can also use forum marketplace for selling ad space. I have monetized my blog by selling ad slots. My site has multiple ad positions, header, footer, sidebar, and within posts. The price varies depending on location and size. For instance, a small sidebar ad goes for $15/month, while a header ad can fetch $30/month. I’ve been doing this for a few years, and it’s a solid income stream, especially if your site attracts heavy search engine traffic.

To make money selling ad space on your website, you can use ad networks like Google AdSense or directly sell space to businesses in your niche. Pricing can be based on traffic volume, ad placement, or impressions, maximizing your site's value.
I’ve monetized sites by offering banner slots, native ads, or direct sponsorships. High-traffic pages attract better deals, especially with niche audiences. Tools like Google Ad Manager simplify the process—but building trust still drives the value.

build a platform with consistent traffic, like a blog, app, or YouTube channel. Then, use ad networks (e.g., Google AdSense), sell direct ad space, or do sponsored content. Audience size and engagement drive earnings.

It must have heavy search traffic or nobody will be interested.

That's very true. These days most advertisers will trust your site for advertising only when you have search traffic. They don't even trust social traffic as they believe social traffic is basically paid traffic (brought in through social media ads)

I would trust social media traffic, but not traffic that is brought via pop-unders, pop-ups, and redirected websites.

Traffic from pop up and pop under ads are useless, they don't convert. Social traffic can convert if it comes from genuine user interest.
