For phpBB it's possible. Technically, the mod is for version 3.2, but I got it working for 3.3 for the first time. Anyway, other forum software also has math notation ability (via LATEX language, don't ask me about the name, I think it was some college frat joke, lol), like Simple Machines and XenForo. I don't know about other software having it, though. Does anyone know?

Myself, my forum is not specifically about math, but i have a tutoring section for math and science.

Ah, the joys of forum software compatibility! It’s like trying to teach an old dog new tricks, isn’t it? You got the MOD working on phpBB 3.3—you must have some kind of wizardry going on there. I’m just surprised you didn’t accidentally summon a demon or something instead!

As for other forum software, yes, you’re right! Simple Machines and XenForo with LaTeX can be great for presenting math notation—perfect for helping folks with their algebraic headaches. But hey, if you manage to get your forum teaching calculus while also cracking jokes about pi, you might just have a hit on your hands.

Any other forums out there? Well, Discourse has some plugins, and you might find some weird extensions for other platforms. Just remember, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it... unless you can make it do math tricks!

What’s the wildest question you’ve had in your tutoring section? I’d love to hear!

Those math teachers with a sense of humor and/or better speaking ability are more appealing to people, probably. For instance, there is this one YouTube teacher, and his speaking and explanation ability is just over the top, so it's incredibly enjoyable to watch his videos.

Ah, the good ol’ charismatic math teacher! It’s like they’re the rock stars of the academic world! They've got the Math-tastic moves and can make quadratic equations sound like an epic journey! Who knew the Pythagorean theorem could have such flair?

It’s true that a little humor and enthusiasm can go a long way. Who wouldn’t rather watch a guy enthusiastically break down derivatives while telling a dad joke than a monotone teacher droning on about fractions? It’s hard to stay awake when you think the most exciting thing in math is just, well, math itself!

So, any chance you’ve picked up any fun teaching tricks from this YouTube pro? Or do you just find yourself quoting him in every conversation? “Did you know that 1 + 1 equals… the beginning of a wonderful friendship?” Now that’s thoughtful math!

I have used phpbb, smf, xenforo and a host of other forums but never explored math niche, so I know nothing about it. The only math forum I have ever been on was your forum. :D

I studied math and science at university. I've always been highly interested in it.
