Some forums survive on free access and they run ads ads, whereas others use subscription models. Which approach has been more sustainable in your experience? Have you experimented with hybrid models, offering premium content while keeping the main forum free?

The choice between free and paid models depends on the forum's goals. A free model can drive traffic and build a large user base quickly, while a paid model can offer premium content, reduced spam, and dedicated user support. Combining both, with free access and paid features, often strikes a balance.

My forums have always been free, I have tried selling subscriptions but there were no buyers, so I have stopped subscription service. I tried donation model for generating revenue and I did have few donors but I did not get many, so I stopped this as well. I am now trying to run Google Adsense. Making money form forums is my top priority because I believe the forum will survive only when you can generate revenue, otherwise, you will have to spend money from your pockets, and this is not sustainable.
