I don't know if I really agree. People like social media because they are the "Wal Mart of online community". Well, what I mean is that they simply provide a big place where everybody knows about.

Note: For those outside the US, Wal Mart is a big chain store that is everywhere in the US, like McDonald's, and has everything seemingly there.
