If you believe in coexistence, everyone is a friend and no one is an enemy.
There is no competition. Most people on forums also make use of social media, so I don't think they enemies. I have seen cases of forum admins making use of social media for marketing. So it really depends on how one makes use of it.
Social media can drive people to your forum. In fact, that's a good strategy because that's where the people are at. Anyway, though, you need to give a compelling reason for them to go to your site. What you have needs to be interesting.

Social media can be both a friend and a foe for forums. On the positive side, it provides a platform to drive traffic and grow your community. However, the quick, bite-sized nature of social media often competes with the deeper, more engaging conversations that forums offer. If managed well, forums can coexist with social media by leveraging it for promotion and engagement, but they also face challenges in retaining users who may prefer the immediacy and variety social platforms offer.
