October 25, 2024Oct 25 I've never really thought about doing guerilla marketing for a forum before, or indeed for sites in general. When I've seen some things done, it usually seems to get a 'huh' reaction and people then move on rather than it being a meaningful conversion. Holder of controversial opinions, all of which my own.

October 27, 2024Oct 27 Author Have you got any examples of how guerrilla marketing would work for a community? I've considered writing "BikeSouthernIllinois.com" across the gravel of a local Southern Illinois bike trail I ride. That would definitely be a form of guerrilla marketing. I think it would really be niche specific on how you can accomplish it or not. For my hiking forum, maybe I could create "flash sponsored groups hikes" in different areas and print a bunch of business cards with a QR code that goes to the forum. Just to name a few things. October 27, 2024Oct 27 I've considered writing "BikeSouthernIllinois.com" across the gravel of a local Southern Illinois bike trail I ride. I'd honestly get a sign made that's identical to the park or trail signs and put something like "Bike Safely" or something generic on with a QR code :-P It took 8 years for California to fix this guerilla "vandalism". And perhaps even trail-marking signs for this as well (mile 1, or the GPS coordinates). For my hiking forum Forum Directory

For a forum, you could pass out flyers and stick them up at a mall, or a store. That would be a form of gorilla marketing. It's not the same as gorilla marketing, but you could even launch a press release, which would get your forum right in the media. You're able to launch free ones or paid ones. That would work pretty well and get major viewers on your forum fast. It would also generate a ton of backlinks depending on how many media websites pick up your press release, which in turn, would grow your forum in the short term and long term. May 30May 30 I haven’t done gorilla marketing myself, but I studied it in a marketing class. It’s all about using unconventional, creative tactics to grab attention in public spaces. I found it fascinating, low cost but potentially high impact when done right.
June 4Jun 4 Author I wonder about using QR codes, too. That trend had become very popular. For my hiking brand, it could really be useful. I could make stickers and put them on trailhead signs that say scan the code to open the website and view it later when you have signal as most natural areas don't have signal. Then after they're done with their hike, they can find my websites full of more local hiking stuff. With QR codes, I can easily get page specific, too. A new form of offline spamming -- LOL.
