Recently, Sam Altman was reported saying “people saying please and thank you is costing a lot to OpenAI.” While AI is transforming industries and enhancing productivity, few people talk about the massive energy demands it creates. Some people even said ChatGPT caused Los Angeles fire because due to energy consumption by the AI model there was a drought.

Did you know training models like ChatGPT can consume as much energy as driving a car around the Earth nearly 20 times? With AI models growing in size and capability, their energy use is expected to increase 750 times every two years.

If this trend continues, we could face an energy crisis, just to support AI development. Is this sustainable, or are we racing toward a digital disaster?

I think it's funny that people were complaining about NFTs and mining draining energy but they're turning a blind eye on AI. I wasn't hyped for NFTs and think they were stupid, but it's kind of ironic and kind of sad at the same time lol.
