Reddit can be a useful platform for promoting your forum, with several subreddits dedicated to forum promotion and community sharing. Regularly posting in these subreddits can help increase visibility and attract new members who are interested in your forum’s niche.

There are also various promotion-friendly subreddits where it’s acceptable to mention or showcase your forum, especially when it’s relevant to the discussion.

I’ll continue to update this list if I discover more subreddits that allow forum advertising.

Thank you for sharing links to promotional friendly sub reddits! There used to be r/forums that I promoted some old sites, but it hasn't been maintained and so you can't post new threads without approval unfortunately so I didn't know exactly where I could promote my websites.
Thanks for this. Are you aware of any gaming subreddits that are friendly for forum promotion?

I would reach out to the moderators of some gaming subreddits. I was able to promote Gex Forums on r/gex since I asked the head moderator if I could and he gave me the go to. He even joined my forum as well too!

Reddit has been decent in my efforts to promote my forum. However you need to watch your karma, and keep your account in good standing, so be careful posting links on new accounts.

How do you find subreddits that are within your niche. For you and I, we both have niches with limited subreddits.

Trust me bro, there's a subreddit for pretty much everything. You've got a gaming forum which there's numerous subs catered to gaming. There is r/gaming, r/videogames, r/retrogaming, and not to mention the subs that are for specific games like r/battlefield, r/gta etc. If you have good karma reach out to moderators of these subs and see if they're willing to let you promote your forum. The worst case scenario is they say no.

Very interesting.

So reach out to mods before posting? I have a 32k karma account, so that should be reputable I would think

Yeah definitely reach out to mods before posting links, I reached out to the mods on r/gex to see if I could share a link to my forum and they were okay with it. Good luck! You might have better luck in the GTA sub or Battlefield sub than the main gaming subs but it doesn't hurt to reach out. Also check out the subs Cpvr listed too, it's always a good idea to promote your forum anywhere and everywhere possible.

Thank you for the list, recently I am most active in reddit and reddit is a good source for traffic. Many people using it effectively for marketing purpose.

You’re welcome! I’ve updated the thread with a few more areas that you can promote on.

You have a whole list of amazing resources one could leverage on to carry out promotional campaigns on reddit. For one reason or the other, I have not been able to pull through on Reddit but I have been able to use other platforms quite well.

It's funny, I randomly came across a post on r/redditalternatives yesterday and I didn't even realize you promoted the sub in this thread lol. It was on a post about Mark Zuckerberg saying "social media is over." I'm happy to see this list keeps getting bigger, thank you again for sharing these links with us Cpvr!

You're welcome! I'll keep an eye out for new spots to share. Honestly, Reddit’s got a subreddit for everything, it’s wild how many niche communities there are. :D
