My forum is bigger than money. I'd turn down big offers for my poker forum if I receive any in the future. I want to see my goals through, and always own my community. I also have a huge vision, and I know there is a ton of potential in my community.

How about you? Would you ever sell your forum?

Absolutely not. I wouldn’t sell my forum.

Many things may be for sale in life like clothing and goods, but not my forum.

Nope, my forum is “my baby” that is bigger than money.

I sincerely understand that some people are so attached to their forum but I won't hesitate to sell off my forum if I had a good offer but I would have to consider the potential benefit of selling it first. A reasonable offer could possibly give me financial security and the freedom to pursue another project.

I have sold forums multiple times. But I don't think I will be selling the one that I am running currently. That's because I am looking forward to building a forum that will give me a sheer pleasure of running a forum and I would no longer look for money. Until now I have been mostly running forums for money, either through monetization or through selling. In the last 3 months, I sold my two forums. Well, the effort I had invested to build those forums wasn't paid well but the money I received was good.

Apart from the one that I am running currently, I am planning to start two more forums and this time I plan on running them for the passion for running forums.

I think it well depends on the money that's on the table.

I get that many of you say your forum isn't for sale. I'd agree completely. Realistically you'll never get what you want/deserve.

But what if someone offered you a life changing amount, like let's say a million dollars. Would you still not sell? ;)

Nope. I’ve touched a lot of money in my life time and money isn’t something that would force me to sell.

I’m not a money hungry person, so I wouldn’t care if someone offered a million or 100k for my forum. They can keep it as nobody can run my forum better than I can.

Working in the oil field when I was younger taught me that money isn’t everything and making bank all the time.

Okay, I'll put my million offer away. 😞

I do struggle a bit with the idea that there's "no price" on any website, especially one as "small" (in relative scale) as a forum. I mean, seriously - if you were offered $1m or even $10m for your forum, which you could then use to invest in building & significantly advertising a new project... duh?!

I sold my biggest forum (for a significant chunk of change, at least to a teenager!) but I definitely regret it. I got a decent amount of money for it at the time, which allowed me to buy a few things and have a few experiences a lot of teenagers don't get, so I was thankful for it in that respect - but man, if I hadn't gone through with the sale I have no doubt I'd still own that community today and it'd be a thriving family business.

I get where you’re coming from, and for a lot of people, a big enough offer would be a no-brainer. But for some of us, our sites aren’t just businesses or projects, they’re a part of who we are.

My forum has been with me through everything, from my childhood(teenage years) to adulthood. It’s not about the money for me. I’ve seen and handled plenty, but money comes and goes. Passion and the deep connection to a community? That’s something you can’t just sell off. For some of us, it’s never just about a number, it’s about what it means to us.
