February 16Feb 16 Author The rulings now suggest if you are in the database you can talk, but if you are waiting like me, you have to wait to get entered and pay the $35 to get the download link for your cert and number as it isnt assigned until the FCC is done on their end. (my understanding). My test was at the Sheriffs department . Thank you all for the congrats. I really enjoy testing myself on whatever. And this felt like success. CLASSIFIED: TOP SECRET

March 12Mar 12 Author Well, I have spent a good part of a month cramming for the general and extra test. I completed reading the books I bought and did the self testing. Although I feel I am ready, I still have another month before the next nearby testing event at the sheriff 's office. So I am going to do all the books and self testing again. I will ace this, thereby completing my new years resolution for this year. I am really enjoying this challenge, but I am aware it is taking what time i have to attend to my new forum. May 25May 25 Author Since I passed the General test right before vacation, come June I will make my second attempt for the Extra license. The first attempt was the same day I passed the General, but I was unprepared for the Extra questions. In a nutshell, I was really weak with antenna theory and receiver particulars. Even though I carried my ARRL manual with me and self tested with the app thinking I would have time on vacation to go in depth, I was having too much fun and didn't really much at all. So I now have two weeks to pour over the info I have weakness in. I am confident. I will be planning my rig station shortly after and start assembling a "beginner" setup. CLASSIFIED: TOP SECRET
