What kind of prizes do you prefer in contests/competitions? Are you more excited by practical rewards like money prizes, domains and hosting, or do you lean toward something like a forum software license?

What type of competition/contest prizes do you like to like to see the most?

I would probably give away shop credits, noticeable advertisement spaces on my board, or a custom skin. It all depends on the type of competition. I think I tried giving away a virtual gift card once and no one still took any interest in the competition. It also depends on the niche of your board and what you give away.

I prefer to offer cash as prizes paid through PayPal because they're easy!

For AAF, I offer cash, advertising, and posts. I feel like that is reasonable.

For me, I don't like participating in too many contests LOL. I'd rather give someone else a chance!

Cash prizes, but I don't think forum contests work well unless you already have a established community.

It can work to start up a new community as long as you promote the contest in the right places, so potential participants are aware of the competition.

I think it depends on the niche of the forum, but if it was a gaming forum I was part of that did a contest I would like to win digital gift cards for either Xbox, Playstation or Steam. Nothing too big, a $10 one would be fine.

I like this approach as well. If it was a major competition with a big time prize, a video game console could also be a viable reward.

It would probably cause the forum to go viral quick.🤔

I prefer money prizes or hosting services because they are useful.

Honestly cash is the best however I do enjoy having themed prizes such as trophies that are based on the forum theme etc.

As for hosting prizes or domain prizes I couldn't care less because I don't have my own forum so those services wouldn't be helpful for me.

I'll work so hard for a branded, half zip fleece especially if the logo is nice.

I know cash is king, but from what I uncovered behind hiring writers makes me weary to offer cash incentives.

I now know that one will go through extreme measures to hide their identity in order to get a chance at extra cash.

In the case of a writer, they "laundered" payments through 2 different PayPal accounts and seemingly went undetected for a while before more extreme fingerprinting that I do caught up to them to trigger it.

What would they do for a $50 or $100 payment if they were doing all of that for an extra $10/wk?

I honestly wouldn't have minded if they were open about it and admitted to it because the quality was good, but they played stupid as if they didn't get caught red-handed, which irritated me to enough to drop them on the spot.

Yeah I would have a problem with that too. Like you've mentioned if they were honest from the start maybe I'd let it pass (though I wouldn't want 1 person making 2 separate accounts) but then finding out that you've been sending money to the same person just different accounts would be upsetting to say the least.
