SEO is mostly ignored by search algorithms anymore, keyword stuffing is long gone, back link ranking has diminished values, even link farm sites don't work like they used to.

With the advent of high density a.i. algorithms operated by the site aggrigators like search engines, the only real thing that will give your search ranks any muster will be understandable common-phrase content tuned to the subject. Ai will be looking for that to give your page relevance to search users.

I think focusing on relevent content will benefit being found in searches, and hopefully convert some traffic. And maybe some word of mouth or back links will organically happen.

But I hate manually spamming websites.

This is a great take. The advent of AI and it's coming to prominence lately I am certain will result in a lot of old blackhat SEO methods becoming obsolete, and hopefully, "SEO" will finally become what it should be originally - not a method to "boost" your site, but a method of a search engine optimising itself to deliver the most appropriate content based on a user search.

The best thing any forum can do to fit these kind of criteria is to simply have accessible, crawlable threads with seo-friendly URLs and ensure any spam content is dealt with quickly to avoid any potential ranking penalties. That's about it, nowadays, and that's a good thing, because it means content should eventually win out.

With AI being used in search, it’s also apparent that we focus on user intent as well.

That means providing answers to questions, which will help us rank for AI related searches.

So, if a user is searching for “what is the best forum software”, then the AI search result will provide an answer and a source with the most relevant & in depth answer to the question.

It basically simplifies the process of search, but can knock down websites/forums from regular search results, but this new seo tactics is apart of the “answer engine seo” aspect of search engine optimization.
