Let's say you never decided to jump into the forums market - what are some things you'd be doing instead and why?

Hmm. I'm not sure, honestly. Forums are my escape, so I imagine I'd have developed some terrible habits by now if I didn't have forums to put time into.

Well, that is a hard question to answer as I've been doing this for a long time; I would have to say more work and no play, maybe.:eek:

I'd probably be playing MMO's instead. I used to obsessively play Guild Wars back in the mid 2000's. I only started dabbling in forums around 2008 a little bit and I wasn't an active user.

I think I would like to be in propane and propane accessories.

I’d be doing more writing. I would possibly even have skipped the career change and be on a different path - my job today is a result of running forums, and if I hadn’t run forums, it’s very possible I wouldn’t be in this job.

I'm really not sure what I'd be doing if I hadn't discovered forums. I've learnt so much from them, and so much of my online activity has ultimately stemmed from my involvement (one way or another) with forums, so I'm not even sure I'd be a regular internet user really if I hadn't discovered forums all those years ago as a teenager. :)

I would probably have got more into YouTube.

 

During the early 2010s, I ran both a forum and a YouTube channel - and it got to the point where they were both eating up my time, and I really had to pick one or the other. I went with forums, mainly because I had more experience with them, and I couldn't afford the equipment and software that I'd need for a successful YouTube channel (Windows Movie Maker could only get me so far :P !)

I'd probably be playing video games a lot more often and perhaps get into watching TV/films. I play a few video games daily, but I'd probably try to get into more of them. I rarely watch TV/films since I spend so much time behind my computer and iPhone screens, but I imagine if I weren't into forums I'd find them more appealing. I might even try reading, but my attention span is short.

I have scaled back my activity on forums and sold the forum I was running because I am too busy doing other things. I work full time, I spend time with my daughter and my partner, I have two dogs who I spend a lot of time with (we go on long walks almost every day), I go to the gym, I go the movie theater all the time (I have an unlimited pass to my local one), I have quite a few TV shows that I am following. Sometimes I play video games. I like to cook and meal prep. The list goes on and on.

I'd probably be playing a lot of video games like I did when I was younger during my spare time. Still I love forums and I'm glad I got into them.

Blogging and vlogging, like I do now haha.

 

When I took a break from forums some years back, I still kept blogging and doing video stuff.

I would likely be creating a lot more video game content if I didn't spend as much time on forums as I do now. As a gamer, I love to create content to share with others.

But to be honest, I’d be probably working on browser based games.

 

I actually worked on a few when I was younger.

This is honestly a difficult question to answer, because of the forum that I started back in 2003, I discovered I had a passion for creative writing, not only a coping mechanism for unpacking emotional trauma, but also used as a tool for self-improvement. And of course, the sheer joy of providing entertainment for other people! I also wouldn't have discovered many of the anime titles that I've grown to love, the characters, the plots, the crazy chaos... I also wouldn't have learned about several of the various scripting and programming languages if it wasn't for running my own forum.
