December 1, 20231 yr I like to use VPS, Shared hosting doesn't have the access I need to do the things I want however if you are just a regular user who would like to host one site shared hosting is just fine.
December 19, 20231 yr I just use shared hosting for my blog. If my blog was bigger then perhaps I would look into options but for the space and stuff I get I could have an elephant in my hosting and there would still be space left.
January 5Jan 5 Administrators I prefer to use a VPS server, a reseller or a dedicated server. I haven’t used a shared server environment in years. Owner of a Virtual Pets Forum.
January 5Jan 5 I prefer a VPS (which is in essence a shared server). I like the scalability if needed and usually has pretty low latency compared to a standard 'shared' server. CLASSIFIED: TOP SECRET
January 5Jan 5 Administrators I’ve been using shared hosting since 2011 until 2023. So never had the need to upgrade to a VPS. Managing a VPS sounded so difficult and initially it did scare me a little. So I did upgrade after all in 2023 - mainly to get more freedom and flexibility - and I never want to return to a shared hosting ever.
January 5Jan 5 I use a VPS & 2 bare metal dedicated servers. The dedicated servers are for my shoutcast business where i sell streams to people so they can stream music online
January 5Jan 5 I’ve done them all, shared, VPS, dedicated, run my own physical server in the office, plus cloud and serverless. Each has a space, each has a valid reason and application, and I’d pair what I’m doing with what makes sense. Holder of controversial opinions, all of which my own.
January 5Jan 5 I've been using VPS for years. I actually went to a dedicated server and had a lot of issues, I went back to a VPS, and that really was my best option to begin with. I'd love to do a home server just for the experience. Maybe I'll try it one day. I need to find a good smaller learner one. Any suggestions? I haven't used shared in quite some time. I remember back when I used WebTV to host my first website which was about WebTV tricks and secrets. Then, I used Tripod, Lycos, and Angelfire for a long time. Eventually, I bought an account on Freepgs.com, which is no longer functional. It was low cost but gave you ad-free space and MySQL features. Forum and Blogging Discussions at Another Admin Forum

January 6Jan 6 Content Team I only use shared hosting myself, I have no clue how to manage a VPS and I don't have the funds to pay for a managed one. VPS is definitely better but I don't have the time to learn how to manage it lol. Love roleplaying games? So do we on RPG Haven!

January 7Jan 7 Note that 'full root access' of a VPS is only partial root access - you might have near control over your part of it but that isn't full control over the server hypervisor. (e.g. you're not in control of how much resource a given VPS gets on the host) It is worth noting that with full root access it can be possible to entirely brick a VPS and leave it unbootable. Holder of controversial opinions, all of which my own.

January 9Jan 9 Administrators VPS it safer more secure and you get full root access. A VPS is only more secure if you take the necessary steps to protect it. This includes using two-step verification for your cPanel accounts, changing default SSH ports, and using SSH keys for authentication. Owner of a Virtual Pets Forum.
January 9Jan 9 I have only had live sites on shared hosting without any issues. That be said none were really huge forums. I do have an unmanaged VPS that I play with time to time mostly to try out different controls panels.
January 10Jan 10 A VPS is only more secure if you take the necessary steps to protect it. This includes using two-step verification for your cPanel accounts, changing default SSH ports, and using SSH keys for authentication. I solved part of this by not having a cPanel for the most part… Holder of controversial opinions, all of which my own.

I just integrated it with CloudFlare this morning so hopefully it helps. i am still learning this part 🚨 Join the Ultimate Sports Wrestling Community – The Ultimate Hub for Fans! 🚨 Are you a die-hard wrestling fan? February 28Feb 28 Content Team Completely depends on the requirements of the project, for me. I've never had need for, nor wanted to pay out the expenses required, for a dedicated server, yet. I have used shared hosting packages countless times, used VPS services for my biggest project many years ago (which was expensive enough back then!) and always been fine just using shared hosting when that's suitable. It's only when a site grows to quite a large point that the consideration of needing a VPS comes into play - or potentially if you're running multiple (5+) high-traffic sites.
