Picked me up a license of vBulletin 6.

Last time I used VB was when 3.8 was in, a LONG time ago, lol.

It's different. Lots of settings. They call everything channels, whereas XF calls everything nodes.

So far, I like it. I don't like it as much or more than XenForo, but I'm not unhappy with my purchase.

Features include a forum of course, user blogs, articles, and social groups. Definitely fully-featured.

Is anyone else trying vBulletin 6 at all?

I literally have never installed a vBulletin forum. Need to do that sometime just to check it out, but I’d probably never build a community on it.

I played around with their 7 day demo and kinda liked it. Looking forward to joining a forum running it

I have used vB in the past, but only vB5. I really dig your forum though Shawn! I might try out vB6 and see if I like it enough to maybe use it for a future project I have in mind. Though this would be after I get enough money saved up.

And for the $180 that it is, that's for the life of vb6. No annual renewal for that version!

Are you planning to use it anywhere? I wouldn't mind joining a community with vBulletin as the software.

I need to join it asap and test out the software.

I still have a vBulletin 4.2 license a friend let me borrow. Never heard from him again. I guess he knew vBulletin was doomed LOL I have "thought" about renewing my vB just to see what all the hype is about but I couldn't be bothered.

vBulletin was king taking over from UBB the original creator of the flat forum layout you see today. Until UBB everything was threaded using Matt Wright's wwwboard scripts.

With vb6 they are making a comeback.

I'm learning more and more about it each day.

It takes some getting used to at times.

Lots of little issues to figure out, too.

Hey Shawn , I also have been thinking about using VB6.

As a guest on your Off Topic forum, I get an error message when trying to change themes.

Just a heads up.

vBulletin was the first forum software I used in terms of being a member and it helped me fall in love with forums.

I might have to peek at the features list for vBulletin 6 to see what it's like.

I will say that from using the demo, the option to quickly install some pre-installed themes quickly is nice.

I think I last used vB 3.8.7 if my memory serves. How does vB 6 compare?
It's basically vB 5 with a new theme. Given that vB 5 didn't exactly set the world on fire, vB 6 isn't showing signs of doing so either.

I sampled the free demo out of curiosity, and I have to admit, it didn't impress me at all. Transitioning from a Dark theme to the Admin CP is jarring – unless I've overlooked a setting in the extensive options list, the brightness of the Admin CP is quite overwhelming.

The AdminCP remains outdated, retaining the same design from its previous iterations. Considering I possess an older license, I might upgrade and utilize it for a low-stakes project, such as a theming test board, which I wouldn't mind being compromised. However, I would not employ it for a fully-fledged community platform.

"world's leading..." right. Maybe when it was vB3. Ever since then, not so much leading anymore. I can do that too.

"Administrata. World's leading admin community."
