These days many old folks are all about how technology has changed a lot for humans globally. What was a foremost effect of tech according to them is the increase in mortality rate. Machines and it’s products are succeeding in cutting human lives short.

Well if we are to think about that truly, mortality rate has increased greatly compared to half a century ago.

Is this a valid argument?

I think technology has good and bad sides. It helps us stay connected and get information easily, but it can also lead to addiction, privacy problems, and social isolation. Overall it's a mixed thing. How we use it makes a big difference so we should be careful to use it wisely.

back to the discussion if technology is due to god or the devil

how long do we have?

I see the problem boiling down to greed. We are more productive than ever with the use of computers and the connectivity of the internet. People are literally at arms reach away. But as much as our productivity has increased, so have the demands from leadership to produce even more.

I know I'm not the only person experiencing burnout. My body hurts, my mind is exhausted. My soul is neglected. Despite having instant communication, there are so many people who are lonely.

I think technology could correct some of issues we have, if only the greed is squashed. In the 1960s it was predicted that we'd only be working like ten to 20 hours a week. What ever happened to that? Greed. I think that if people are given a proper opportunity to relax, get out of constant Flight of Fight mode, many of the problems we're facing will be resolved. Exhaustion, addiction, social isolation, could all be solved. We need rest, we need time.

I believe technology has made our lives much easier and honestly more fascinating. I can't imagine living in a world without video games, life would be so boring without them. So I think it's done more good than harm. However like people have mentioned in the thread, it can do some harm. Just like anything good in life, you should moderate how much tech you're using so it doesn't affect your health physically and mentally.

I also couldn't image f we were still stuck with dial up internet instead of having high speed internet now. I like that smartphones are like mini computers now as well. The flip phones era was cool and all, but having a smartphone makes things so much easier.
