If you want to become a programmer, not necessarily a developer, you should job the Harvard CS50 program.

According to Havard, "CS50 is Harvard University's introduction to the intellectual enterprises of computer science and the art of programming for majors and non-majors alike, with or without prior programming experience.

An entry-level course taught by David J. Malan, CS50x teaches students how to think algorithmically and solve problems efficiently. Topics include abstraction, algorithms, data structures, encapsulation, resource management, security, software engineering, and web development. Languages include C, Python, SQL, and JavaScript plus CSS and HTML.

Problem sets inspired by real-world domains of biology, cryptography, finance, forensics, and gaming. The on-campus version of CS50x, CS50, is Harvard's largest course."

They have started the fall semester, and they are in the fifth week. I think they post a lecture once a week on Tuesday, and you can catch up before they get too far with this year's cohort of students. Once you enrol, you can pay to have David mark your work and assign you a certificate through the Harvard website or EDX here https://www.edx.org/learn/computer-science/harvard-university-cs50-s-introduction-to-computer-science.

Here's a list of last year's lectures

and you can find those from this year on the Harvard website
