General Why do people buy forums and just leave them to die?

For discussions that don't fit other prefixes.
A forum I abandoned that had 500 solid messages/50 articles was making $30-50 a month for several months before repurposing the license.

Now that I have a new licenses, I might boot it back up in "read only" just for supplemental investment income for another license or further development.

As little as it is, it's still profit on the books. Multiply that by 20 forums you just let die and it's still a pretty good passive income stream.

Had a very popular off topic forum. A member didn't like a few of the members. Long standing feud that carried over to my site. I had no problem with it since one section was dedicated to debates which led to fights. This user wanted to buy it asked me how much I would take for it. I gave him a very high number. To my surprise he accepted. I gave his admin access to the database and files. He set it up on his server. A week later all the posts were gone.

He shut the site down. He bought it to close it.

You know, I never really had thought of this. But it makes good sense now that you mention it.

Well, at least you got your money. I can imagine it's not fun to find out he closed it down, but the high number of money makes it more bearable.

I'm a current vaper, and I'm a little worried about your assessment that I might die soon! :ROFLMAO:

I could definitely get on board as a part-time contributor to a Vaping Forum, fyi... sounds interesting...
It was when everyone kept getting that bad batch online.

I think it was because people were getting it from countries with no QA requirements.

I'm not really sure why they do this. Maybe they just want to buy a big forum, to say they own a large one but then don't do anything with it which is disheartening.
