It's vital to keep your top contributors happy and active. They carry your community without doing much effort. So in a sense, they're the reason your community thrives and is alive by posting discussions that spark more interest by others. They set the tone for the community so to say. But how do you show appreciation for their efforts? Do you have a system in place to reward or recognize them, or do you prefer to let their contributions speak for themselves?

An elite/VIP group used to be a very popular thing, but I've noticed that trend is slowly dying out. There's more of course.

  • Badges / Custom titles
  • Exclusive perks
  • Public shoutouts
  • Giftcards

So, let us know what you do to keep your top contributors happy. :D

I have always tried to make Charter Memberships to recognize the most active and contributing members.

I used to cut it off after 10 members to keep them the founding members but in reality, I think keeping it going would be ideal.

I also think letting members of that group help decide who the next member should be (through nominations) could also be good to give them some of that ability.

I do like the idea of nominating new members. That would be neat and I'd probably even give that a run here. :P

We used to make special graphics packs for members, or if they had there own board we would make a theme for them.

My forum isn't currently open to the public however once it is I will be rewarding and recognizing top contributors by:

1. Giving them contributor badges & titles
2. Monthly features & Spotlights (either by a monthly post or interviewing them) as well as to allow them to promote their business in these features.
3. Exclusive access & Perks (Giving them premium industry insights, job postings, or event invites.) I'll also offer a VIP lounge for industry leaders.
4. Sponsored advertising & Promotion, I'd give them a free ad spot on the forum for their business and offer discounted or free promotions for their services.
5. Giveaways & Contests

I believe that by recognizing and rewarding top contributors is a great way to keep forums engaged and thriving and would suggest all forum owners to reward top contributors.

I believe the best way to reward top contributors is to recognize them publicly and show personal appreciation.,, Mentioning their achievements in community announcements can significantly enhance their motivation. You can give small rewards, like gift cards or special access to resources, shows that you value their efforts and encourages them to keep participating...
