What forums are the easiest/hardest to build?

I agree with you here, Shortie, however i don't think i can say what type of forum is harder to open but, if i have to pick i do agree gaming forums for sure, and Graphic design as it's not as big as it used to be if that makes sense
I wonder if the graphic design has a wider audience now. Especially since it's possible to create your own graphics with the use of AI tools. This wasn' possible in the past. Creating a community that discusses both topics might be a good idea for someone looking to start a graphic designs forum.

Gaming forums are highly competitive, but it's a lot easier to build one when you target a certain niche instead a much broader one. There's some serious power houses in the gaming industry though. Some of the largest gaming communities have over 5 million posts, if not more.

Generally speaking, niche focused forums are very easy to manage and you can achieve success with them very quickly than other forums. I found general topic forums to be very overwhelming and so difficult to manage but if you are willing to put in the effort, it is worth it in the end.

I have worked on various niches for clients, including micro niches and I myself have built lifestyle forum, business forum, mental health forum, and crypto forum. In my experience, mental health is really difficult. That's because even though a lot of people have some sort of mental health issues, it is very difficult to encourage people to open up in a public forum. One major problem with this niche is most users start giving advice that they borrow from other sources instead of sharing their genuine concerns.

In my experience, lifestyle forums are easier to run because lifestyle niche include a lot of topics a a lot of people can related to these topics and are comfortable to talk about.

General discussion forums are the easiest to start up, but it's the most boring niche in my opinion. Over saturated, and nothing unique/cool about those communities.
