I'd be fine with $10K!Every now and then when I'm out grocery shopping, I'll buy 1000 yen of scratchers, or 5. I typically "win" 500-800 yen, but have had times I walked with nothing.
One day will make up for it with the 1,000,000 yen prize (about $10,000) as each booth has a winning ticket at all times. I think they just replace the rolls/randomize them when someone wins. Obviously, the odds are still stacked from the beginning, and even more when they rotate out.
The most I've won on a scratch off ticket was $1,000 which was still cool. It was a $30 ticket.
