Optimization Do you often check your page speed?

For topics on speeding up or streamlining the platform for better performance.

Life’s better without a plan.

Tools like GTMetrix, Google Page Speed Insights or Cloudflare Speed Observatory (New) often reveal some crucial information how to improve your loading times.

I'll be the first one to admit, I care more about this than I should. So I did some changes and got the following score:

GTMETRIX:

CLOUDFLARE:

PAGE SPEED INSIGHTS:

So there's still some room for improvement, although not much in my control.

Feel free to share your scores. :D

Here's mine...

I actually conducted tests with it before, just to address some performance issues as well as the SEO score being a bit off at one point.

I even ran tests of the forum when forced with certain skins and got varying results.

That’s actually really great considering it’s Jcink. I believe javascript tends to slow down a website quite significantly and Jcink relies very hard on javascript.

A bit pity on the mobile score, but considering that the software is 20 years old, I don’t think anyone can complain. Many more recent softwares don’t achieve your score.

Not sure if something can be done about it... even if I get John to at least modernise the entire software after all that time (to which SMF will finally be doing).

Like I said before, it's mainly the ads causing it. My mobile score for performance is 99% because I have Jcink Premium with no advertisements to display on my board.

I've used different tools to detect my page speed, such as Lighthouse via the Google Chrome developer tools. I never even heard of PageSpeed Insights until Bryn referenced it, and I made several updates on my site to improve performance since he did.
