As a forum owner visiting a forum that doesn't belong to you, what are some annoying things about other forums or pet peeves that you have?

Do you give feedback about these things to the forum owner, or do you keep it to yourself?

Extra spacing, padding, etc. are my pet peeves. As a new member, I wouldn’t want to intrude. I would familiarize myself and get "known" before scrutinizing little things, and approach in a friendly manner (except below).

That said, I'm pretty well known here, and @Cedric needs to get off his ass and fix the mobile editor padding. DoH themes has way too much out of the box on all elements and is somewhat of a bad UI cause they don't fix the minor issues like this.

It took a bit of tweaking, as I also use a DoH theme, but I got it to be one line.

This shouldn't be an issue with 2.4, but are you really going to wait that long to make the mobile experience better, huh? 🫠

Yes. 🫣

No, maybe I can look into it tonight. I honestly never noticed it before. I’m guessing you know the code to conveniently insert in the extra less? 🤩

Yeah I can pass it along tomorrow as I just hopped in bed. I'm unsure if it'd work here as I use a different style, but it's worth a copy/paste test to see.

The "preview" button was the hardest part to figure out.

If I notice something that looks out of place, I will bring it up in a thread. Though I usually don't find too many things annoying, I mainly visit forums on a desktop computer most of the time so if there's issues with mobile formatting, I honestly will never see it. :V

Fixed. 🥳

One thing that annoys me is when forums have their "site news" or announcements section at the top of their forum listings... Like, I get that you might think your site news is important, but surely it can't be more important than the topic of whatever your forum is itself about.

It annoys me when people create new boards and half or more of the forums have no content. You need content to generate activity, so it's best to build up the content to a substantial amount in most/all forums before opening your site to the public.

Seeing spam all over a forum without it being cleaned up is one of the most annoying issues.

You shouldn’t allow spam to linger on your forum—clean it up!

Sure sign of a newbie admin, or very possibly a very old school admin back after a very extended hiatus.

Though it's fair to say that roleplay does lean slightly harder into this by using boards as locations to post in and sometimes a more expressive board list implies where people can set stories, in ways that don't quite align to the usual board thinking.
