Eh, I'm hoping that I'm starting to turn the corner now on my infection - had a really bad night last night but starting to slowly feel just a little bit better today - not out of the woods yet though I don't think, so not banking on feeling great for the beginning of a busy work week on Monday! Hope everybody else is doing well, any exciting plans for the weekend Administratans? :D
4. @Scorpion Uptrendfinancialsignal Flower There was a small error in the acceptance post of this thread - this order requires 6 threads to be created per member. Please can each of you create one more thread each on this order to complete your respective parts (and update the acceptance post). Thanks!
5. Personally, although I can see the benefits of keeping on top of developments your competition might be making, it's not something that has ever particularly bothered me. I've always been of the opinion that my time and energies are better focussed on improving my own site, or directing my resources (time) into advertising the website to enable a better reach. I can certainly see that in some cases, checking out the competition and seeing what they're doing might lead to some improvements/updates to your own site - but I'd rather come up with those ideas independently on my own, knowing that they'll work for my particular site. Myself, I think it's somewhat unhealthy to focus too much on the competition - it's rarely a productive process to self-criticise too much, I'd much rather spend the time improving than thinking about why someone else is better. :)

10. Ouch, I thought I was a bit awkward on the romance side sometimes - but that takes the biscuit! :ROFLMAO:
11. I've never run a Wiki myself, but I was part of a Wiki Contributor team for a large game I used to play. The game Wiki had thousands upon thousands of pages and needed regularly updating, so volunteers would do that. The idea of having an internal intranet based Wiki for staff-based things at work sounds really interesting and like a great inventive use of Wikis though, and potentially gives me ideas...
12. When I was a teenager, I was really socially awkward and a bit of a recluse, probably because of self-image and confidence issues. One day not long before I left secondary school (think I was either 14 or 15), a really cute girl in my class asked me if I'd walk her home that afternoon. I managed to stumble over my words to agree, but when it came to it, I walked her to basically the end of her road, where she suggested I should "go in" to her house with her because her parents weren't there - at which point, for some reason, my teenage mind shit the bed, and I literally couldn't say anything. When the girl leaned into me and kissed my cheek and whispered for me to come and "watch a movie" with her, for some reason I felt like she'd just asked me for a kidney. For some reason that I still can't fathom today - I turn around and literally ran away.

14. Referring to "gamification", I mean adding extra things to your forum beyond just the discussions - things like interactive games, plugins that encourage interaction (I'm thinking points plugins that allow stealing/gambling/investments), or, in my own case with an old community I used to run, an extension to the points plugin that allowed for gambling on sports events using forum currency. What part do these sorts of "game" features play in building a community and building a loyal memberbase that has incentives and reasons to keep returning to your community? Are they even suitable for the type of forum you run? Have you had experience of introducing such features, and if so, did they work well for you? What do you think you could've done better in their rollout?
15. One place that I've not yet been that I'd love to travel to would be Australia... I just don't think it's likely as I don't think I'd be able to handle such a long flight. I don't mind flying in general, but a 12+ hour flight doesn't sound like my idea of fun at all, no matter how bad I do wanna go!
16. Early on in my forum administration career, after starting using free forum hosting software that used phpBB2, I moved over to using MyBB for a while, before finally settling on phpBB3 as the software I used for the majority of my projects for quite a long time. I also used MyBB on some projects though, and was an admin/staff on forums using vBulletin and one using SMF. Back in those days, nothing ever felt quite like phpBB3 for me.
17. I'd like to enter this, as I may have something in the works alongside somebody that may be ready to advertise sometime in March. Good luck to all! :)

19. This specifically is a great additional point. I have lost a great domain in the past to not having auto-renewal activated, and having the domain registrar on an email I didn't check often. It actually "cost" me a few hundred dollars potentially, as the domain name was good enough to sell for a reasonable price.
20. Aragon Burner it would be great if you could assist Cory with recovering his account please. :D

That's great news, what subreddit did you find out about Administrata on? Reddit would be a great way to attract more new members to our community.
22. I was really lucky and thankful for the fact that on my most popular forum I had a Moderator early on who was an advertising professional in his career. He liked the forum and the direction we were going in and the different things we were doing to competitors at the time, and so he got on board and helped teach me a lot of things about advertising, especially around using Facebook for advertising at the time. A big part of the success of that site was owed to him in fact. :)
23. Crazy about this song right now!

I've been in a few car accidents when younger, been knocked off a bike and bullseye'd a car windscreen when I was about 10 or 11. I also had an incident at a swimming pool when very young where I came quite close to drowning. Nothing quite as drastic as of late, thankfully. :P
25. Slightly off-topic, but being almost the same age as Emma Watson, I can remember her being one of my early crushes too. :P As for the fictional character that I find myself relating to a lot, it's a rather obscure one, but it's Wesley Gibson from the movie Wanted (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0493464/) played by James McAvoy. Not so much for the crazy-skilled assassin he becomes, but for the fact that he's just an average guy who seems to get whisked into a world of utter madness. That's sometimes how I find myself feeling in life. :ROFLMAO:
