Hi Kat, welcome to Administrata! Great to hear you're a designer - who knows - maybe I'll be needing your services one day in the future! Enjoy the community and remember we're a friendly bunch, ask away if you need anything! :)
2. I don't often listen to non-English music, but I absolutely love this. The vocal at the end specifically is incredible!
3. I've just started coding my own text-based game after a long, long time away from any sort of development, this might be just the ideal forum for me so I will check it out this evening... Thanks Malcolm and good luck with the forum! :)

I don't collect them personally myself but my nephews started at the beginning of the year and they've become crazily competitive with each other to the point they're often having to be separated from actual fighting over them. Just to add to the problem for my sister I've gone and bought 30 of the things that I've somehow got to work out how to "fairly" divide between the two of them, as apparently each one does not have equal value in their minds. :ROFLMAO:

Bought a couple of FUNKO POPs as Christmas presents for my nephews today... the amount of them I've got for the two of them this Christmas is quite insane actually, on reflection.
6. These are all great things for leaders to consider in any field when managing people. Not only is this ideal for admins of forums, it's ideal for anybody working in any form of HR or any conceivable role in which you manage people. My single addition would be 29. Always be willing to complete a task you're assigning to somebody else yourself. Offer to show them how to do it, or if it's something you don't have the skills to do, arrange a competent person to demonstrate the task. This builds up respect, showing that you're not asking something of someone that you wouldn't be willing to do yourself.
7. Love this song right now!
8. I don't like chatboxes or shoutboxes. They absolutely do take away from the engagement on the rest of the forum, so in my opinion, should only be considered as options for forums who are already huge and are actively looking to limit just how many posts are being made. In a situation where there's hundreds or thousands of members online daily, I can see why a chatbox might be useful... in almost any other scenario, it's a bad idea, in my opinion.
9. When I saw your stats the other night, I knew you had managed to find something, I just couldn't be bothered to go back through database logs to find out what! :p Gave me a good reason to go through the code and find out though... if I'm honest, the gym.php page is the worst code of all the code I've produced so far, so I'm considering just starting completely from scratch on it to make sure I get everything working as intended.
10. I ran into some problems tonight with some updates and am calling it a night for now. Everything bar the gym is still working, although not exactly as intended right now and not as much was done tonight as I'd hoped, but here is what is done: Attacking players now deal a random amount of damage between 5-20, with a chance of your strength stat further increasing the maximum damage when above a certain threshold. Defending players now deal a random amount of damage between 3-12, with a chance of their strength stat further increasing their maximum damage when above a certain threshold. If an attacking player has an Agility stat that is significantly higher than a Defenders Speed stat, there is a chance the Defender won't hit them. If an attacking player has a Defence stat that is significantly higher than a Defenders Strength stat, the damage dealt range can reduce to between 1-8. Hospital discharge now requires 25 health to become available. When I was attempting some updates to the gym.php page, I confused some logic statements. The result is that currently, gym trains are not actually processed. It's nearly 2am so I simply don't have time to fix this right now, but I will get to it tomorrow.

I received some presents in the post today that I'd ordered for my nephews for Christmas... felt a bit excited just opening the parcels! :ROFLMAO: like a big kid
12. Yeah, don't make the rookie mistake of trying to post pretty much anything on subreddits before having any karma. Mostly your post is insta-deleted.
13. I'm still interested in recruiting people to play this game for 200 Credits!
14. One thing that annoys me is when forums have their "site news" or announcements section at the top of their forum listings... Like, I get that you might think your site news is important, but surely it can't be more important than the topic of whatever your forum is itself about.
15. Great site! The layout is nice and simple, the media gallery is a nice touch and the articles will be great once expanded upon. If I was going to make one criticism, it's that I would've perhaps added a bit more content in terms of more threads for people to want to sign up to reply to. Maybe you'll work on that after your short break. Overall, great job!
16. My own style is very much dependent on the site I am moderating. When I ran my own forum, when starting out, I was super lax. The only real rule was that nothing illegal could be posted and that I'd delete and ban spam posters. That was pretty much it. I would move threads that were posted in the wrong sections sometimes, but there were no formal rules, and warnings were literally never issued for the first about year of the forum. As it grew significantly to the point of getting a couple thousand posts a day rules had obviously become more necessary by this point and so I did generally enforce rules that were set. But the rules were still pretty laid-back and not overly harsh. We just generally asked, again, nothing illegal, no spam, post in the right sections, don't flame/excessively swear, and at least make your post add value (don't literally just post "lol" on every thread). There weren't many more rules. We had a significant moderation team at our largest point, including about 7 moderators and four admins I think, as well as a couple of "mini-mods" who moderated individual sections or a very small group of sections, but could only soft-delete posts and issue "5 point warnings". If I recall, at some point we had about 600 warnings issued a month, and that was the highest number it ever got to. Considering we were receiving around 7000+ posts a day at our busiest times, this was pretty much OK with me.
17. I still maintain my earlier position in this thread that domain providers are almost irrelevant. The only services you should be purchasing from a domain registrar imo is the registration itself. All of their other services are available elsewhere at a better quality and a better price, of that I can assure you. As I said before, my domains are registered with Names.co.uk. I set the nameservers to my own hosting and I've never visited Names.co.uk since and won't do so until I need to either register another domain or renew my current ones.

Good afternoon Administrata! Planning to be around most of the day, have to pop out for a few hours later this afternoon but plan to use the majority of the next 12 hours or so to catch up on some Administrata stuff, get some content delivered, and work on my game project! Hope everyone has a great day! :)
19. Hulk I am almost finished with my 10 threads, would you like me to continue and do 20 in total for a slightly faster completion time for you? Just offering you this as an option as it may be a bit of time before we have two additional members free to complete the package otherwise. :) fdk
20. I agree, it doesn't look very good and I completely understand. Whilst I'm still not ready to add a theme or any real styling due to it just breaking things while I'm developing live, I will at least go through tomorrow and make all of the pages consistent (ie make the layout/ordering consistent and turn pages that have links into buttons to be consistent across all pages).

I'm from the UK aswell Smithy Welcome to Administrata, hope you enjoy the place! We're a friendly bunch. :)
22. Okay guys, a couple of small (well, actually, big in terms of development) updates processed just now. Battle.php has been modified. You now can select the opponent you wish to attack. During battles, you will now hit your opponent, and your opponent will hit you back. I will be making modifications to damage values over the next 24 hours. Hospital has been updated and now automatically discharges patients who reach 75 health immediately. This should make for faster battling! Unfortunately, my coding skills haven't developed quite enough just yet for me to implement the battle stats into battle... I did make some database adjustments earlier which may have resulted in the lowering of some stats, so apologies for that. I noticed that my code for gym isn't currently preventing multiple successive trains correctly, so I'll be attempting to fix this in the next 24-48 hours too. I still do plan to implement battle stats into the battle logic, and will 100% get to this, but it may be slightly further down the line (by this I mean maybe a week or so max). I plan to catch up on some content orders here tomorrow as it's my first free day for a fair while, then tomorrow evening I'll be doing the following (and will stick to this list this time!): Battle will receive a small further adjustment to limit how many attacks can be performed in quick succession. There will still be a high limit to allow for plenty of attacking, but this will just be mainly to stop the constant holding of F5. :p I'll also be updating damage values during this Battle update. It's likely the values will remain random but have a reduced variance. The player initiating the attack will deal approximately double the amount of damage as they will receive (on average). There will still be a 10% chance for a double hit causing double damage. Hospital will receive a small additional update to allow you to "bribe the doctor" for 25 gold in return for 50 health. This'll make it possible to leave hospital almost immediately if you're hospitalised. This will be adjusted again in the near future once more gold/health mechanics are developed. Gym will be updated to correctly require a wait of 30 minutes between regular trains. Possible I will make an attempt on an NPC battle feature that will allow players to fight NPC characters for a chance at finding loot (gold) and special items (that will have a use in a future update). Thanks everyone, you're all awesome for being my very own beta testers! -
23. Oh my word, back from work to find you're all playing this absolute noob creation that I came up with in a few hours :ROFLMAO: Gym stats are incrementing but currently the battle system doesn't actually use the stats to determine fights. This will be my mini-project over the next 24-48 hours, as it's an awful lot more complicated to build the logic than I first thought... whoops! I also thought I'd made it so that players automatically leave the hospital when reaching 75 health. However, I've just realised that this only occurs if the player in hospital visits the hospital.php page after reaching 75 health... so I'll add some conditions and checks to fix that at some point soon too, so it makes for a bit faster battling. In the meantime, if you want to create multiple accounts just to have more to beat up... I'm totally fine with that. After I've completed these few things, I'll do a few smaller things like add tracking and a stats.php so you can see how many times you've attacked, how many times you've sent people to the hospital, and how many times you've been to the hospital. Then I'll be moving onto inventory.php which will be a big project as it'll introduce items with different effects into the game. When I have a decent codebase with working features, I plan to add some basic styling and a really basic theme. I just haven't done it now as I'm live editing code and likely to constantly break things. The game will however remain entirely text-based and won't have any graphics except for perhaps a logo. This is just a basic roadmap and subject to change. I really do have a passion to one day run my own text-based game and I'm literally eating up information to learn to code to do it myself exactly as I envision it. I am super appreciative to see a few of you guys taking the time to come and play my strange creation! EDIT: 58 minutes on from posting this: I've bashed out a new feature in an hour. Search for gold allows a player to search one of six areas every minute. Each area has increasing rewards, but increased risks of failure, which loses health. Success means you find gold. Very, very simple, but still took an hour. Enjoy! https://heroel.com/src/search.php - Also updated the home page to display level, gold, and link to search for gold. Back tomorrow with the stuff I actually said above  PS: Just manually removed everyone from hospital. Fight away! lol 13 strength already? No wonder you realised quickly that battle stats aren't being used right now haha! Somebody needs a nerf :geek:
24. Been struggling to find myself a coder to build my dream game, so I've finally decided I'm biting the bullet and doing it myself. Coding in PHP for now to see what I can come up with as it's probably my strongest language, even though I still don't know anymore than an average 12 year old could find out on Google. If anyone wants to laugh at me along my journey, I'm developing on live and literally have been making miniscule edits by the minute for hours. I'm just about finished up for night, so nothing will change or break (hopefully) for a few hours (not that there's anything much to do anyhow): https://heroel.com/src/ You can use a fake email to sign up no worries there's no verification or anything, the database will likely be deleted anyhow once I work more on the game. Feel free to laugh along in the thread, I won't take it personally! :ROFLMAO:

Anybody tried hemp for smoking? I bought these while out earlier: And the result after opening them and preparing to chill out for the night: Wish me luck! Anybody else had any similar products? Medicinal use only of course!
