1. Don't understand a word of what the fella is saying (except what I remember from the one time I watched with subtitles), but I absolutely love the vocals here.

Hello Administrata Have you checked out our Content Order service for posts on your forum/community? If you haven't, please do! If you have, we hope you were happy with our service! Here is an opportunity to get some posts from a member of the Content Team, if you'd like to experience what receiving a package from the Content Team at Administrata can do for your community before requesting a full service. With my personalised service, I only accept one request per forum. That's it. You're only able to order once per forum from me in this thread, any other orders should be submitted via the Content Order service. Packages on offer here 5 posts (60 Credits) 10 posts (110 Credits) 20 posts (200 Credits) All packages include an introduction thread that is not counted in the content delivery count, if I'm not already a member of the forum requesting the package. If your forum has a forum games or similar section, I may post there, but will not count such posts for the purposes of fulfilling an order. To request a package, simply either reply to this thread with a link to the forum and the package requested, or send me the Credits with a link to your forum in the notes. Alternatively, you can PM me to request a package. Remember, only one package per forum! :)
3. I think an important metric that many overlook but I personally like to measure is how many members sign up and post on the same day they sign up. I always want this rate to be as high as possible, because a member engaging with the community early and (hopefully) getting a good response is much more likely to turn that member into a regular contributor.
4. I remember one of the first times I ever got drunk as a teenager. I was 15-16 years old and had not long began my football forum, we were reasonably sized at the time with probably 40-50 daily active members. I got drunk on New Years Eve (probably 2013, so I was 16 at the time) and decided it'd be a good idea to post a thread with some pics of me having a drink with a friend in the off-topic section of the forum. Obviously, it didn't go down too well when members realised the admin was a 16 year old kid and most of them were either in their later teens or 20s, and I took a little bit of stick. All of it seemed in jest, but where I was drunk, I'd decided I'd had enough of two particular members jokes and issued them warnings with 24 hour posting bans. Upon waking in the morning and seeing the reaction of others (there was about a 15 page thread in the off-topic forum discussing it), I quickly realised I'd made an error of judgment. It was the only time as an admin or moderator I've ever publicly apologised for a moderation decision I made. One of the members later went on to become a section moderator for one of our league forums, so it thankfully didn't have a lasting impact and I continued to get ribbed about it every now and then for the lifetime of the site.

Those are some great goals, specifically the last one! I myself have made a few goals this year, and one of mine is quite similar to yours: - Taking at least one day a month to go and do something I want to do, and for this day alone not worry about others. I'm in a similar situation, living alone but with regular visitors. I often have guests stay a night and such, sometimes to my own detriment. (being extremely tired at work the next day from hosting, etc) So I decided I wanted a goal that will allow myself a day here and there where I sort of "forget" other people (in the nicest possible way!) and just do something for myself and myself alone. This seemed to fit well. :)
6. [uSERGROUP=6]@Content Team[/uSERGROUP] there is one available spot still on this request, if anybody would like to take it or perhaps do another 10 posts if you've already done 10, that would be great and will help us close out Cpvr 's order! :)
7. Somehow I managed to miss this thread! I would've voted for ROFLMAO also, a stand out winner for me. Congratulations to frm and I hope 2025 has exciting things in store! :) January Site of the Month won't be far away now, good luck to all entrants there! :)
8. That's a very good point, but also, at least in my own experience, I generally find that the type/kind of member that'll post a "departure thread" is probably the kind of member you'd "know" just had enough of the forum and decided to quit, if you were curious... if that kind of makes sense. (it does in my head!) Of course, there are exceptions - some people might want to announce they're leaving due to a personal situation or crisis in their personal life, and they may just genuinely want the friends/acquaintances they made on that forum to know that they're well but need time away... these kinds of cases seem to be a lot less common than the "I'm not happy with something that happened here, so I'm leaving" kind of threads, though.
9. During lockdown in 2020 I was working a lot (had a job at the time that was deemed "critical", so continued working a lot) and so a lot of my forum browsing was done via mobile. At this time though, I wasn't very active on forums myself, in fact I was a real lurker and there was only one forum at the time that I was making any sort of contributions to. Since rekindling my love of forums and rejoining a few communities a few months ago, I've browsed exclusively on my laptop. I haven't even actually visited Administrata on my mobile yet, so I'll make a point of doing that at some point soon to see how mobile-friendly it is. If you'd have said to me 12 years ago or so during the height of my forums that in 10 years close to 50% of forum traffic would be via mobile devices, I'd have laughed at you tbh. I always saw that mobile-friendly websites were the future, but if I'm honest, expected forums mainly to remain desktop sites. That clearly has been proven very wrong over the previous five years or so. :)

So we have threads on Administrata discussing our goals for our websites/communities for 2025, and that's all well and good, but we're all people too! We all have individual goals, needs, or targets. New Year is traditionally a time for people to make New Years Resolutions - goals for themselves in their personal lives for the year ahead. I'm as guilty as anyone of making New Years Resolutions most years which are then out of the window by the end of January. :ROFLMAO: But, it can be a great motivator to make yourself a target - so, Administratans, what are some of your personal goals for the coming year?
11. I personally am always happy to share tips - more so especially because I'm not currently running a forum, and don't have plans to run one in the immediate near future, so I don't worry about competition or anything like that! (not that I worried overly about it before either  ) Ultimately, being a good admin is about the effort you put in. I'm always happy to share tips with people from my own previous success (although as I've said previously, I've had one big success and several failures, so my tips might not necessarily be "pro tips"!), but at the end of the day, tips and tricks will only get you so far. The ultimate measure of the success of your community will be primarily affected by the time & effort you're willing to dedicate to your forum as an admin.
12. I had one particular member on my forum that used to cause me a real headache when he was having a "bad day". He'd commit several intentional low-level rule breaches, wait for a moderator to take action against him, and then submit a complaint/appeal about the moderation decision and start quoting aspects of law and everything. I reached out to him on one of the first occasions he did this (when our forum was still relatively small) and managed to discover that he was suffering with bipolar disorder, and when he did these things usually he was in the middle of an episode and couldn't really help himself. In the end, because the guy was actually a really good member and a great contributor to our site when he was fit and well, I came up with a novel solution. I had a quick plugin created that'd allow staff to "switch off" this member's posts. So essentially, when we recognised he was having a bad time, we'd "switch him off". He wouldn't be banned, and he'd know no different, but his new posts would only be viewable to staff while he had this status set, which generally avoided problems. I don't think he ever worked out what we did in the end, and we rarely had problems from him after this. (apart from the one time he PM'd me demanding to know why I'd contacted the devil about his posts...)
13. I definitely had a different thought when I read "questionable PM". :ROFLMAO: In this vain, when I used to run my forum we had several custom plugins that were built just for our site. I had countless PMs and emails on a weekly basis from people who wanted access to the plugin, people trying to buy the forum off me, people asking for help to code their own plugins etc... considering I didn't code the plugins to begin with, I was the wrong person for them to be asking... lol. That being said, the vast majority of times I didn't even reply to these emails or PMs, unless they were from a member who was already established on the forum. Quite often, these messages were from newbies or people without an account but who just liked the look of the features we had.
14. Hi bennylava We've been super busy with orders lately - and obviously the holiday period has meant that we've also all had some personal time off. This being said, we recognise that the timeliness of delivery on this order hasn't been ideal, so as a team we'll redouble our efforts to ensure this order is filled asap. Thanks for your patience and understanding! :)
15. I used to get this on my football forum quite regularly actually. Usually, it would involve a member being trolled by some others because their team had lost, so getting upset they decide the forum is terrible and they're leaving. The vast majority of time, they'd post a thread, "leave", come back a couple days later, and then get further trolled in their "I'm quitting!" thread for coming back... they still didn't seem to learn. We had a pretty popular off-topic section of the forum at this time, so I was pretty fine with letting people post these threads there... they'd be either requesting mods to delete them pretty quick, or they'd fall off the first page within a day or two at the most after their "exit". For smaller forums, it's probably important to not let these kinds of threads air out as "dirty laundry", as CTS said above. It probably looks quite unappealing to potential new members to see people leaving and doing it "publicly" going out dropping a bomb.
16. It has been the holiday period, so I expect that's why Flower hasn't been around an awful lot. That being said, I recognise that we should've delivered on this package a bit sooner, so I have reached out to other members of the team to get somebody to come and finish this up for you. Hopefully you'll be satisfied with the quality of our content overall and it'll have been worth the wait! :)
17. The monetary cost isn't the most relevant factor imo, it's how much time you're able to dedicate to development, adding content & advertising your forum. You could setup a really nice forum with a great domain name on reliable hosting for as little as $200 or so, I've also known admins "splash out" and buy custom themes/plugins etc immediately and pay upwards of $1000+ to launch a forum. What is spent isn't really what determines the success (upto a certain extent). The success of your forum will be determined by how motivated you are, how able you are to build ties within your community and retain active members, and how well you recruit and advertise and eventually move onto getting members to advertise for you. At the beginning as an admin, it'll feel like a full-time job in some respects (and if it doesn't, you're either running a hobby forum or not serious about proper success). As your forum grows, you'll see the load start to lighten slightly, before you become a fully-fledged self-sustaining active community at which point you're back to having a full-time job again. :)

It took me a fair few days after first joining Administrata to realise I had to hover over a username/avatar in order to see a users' post count. For some reason I thought this forum had just done away with the counts. :ROFLMAO: Nice work on the milestone, now to 1000!

Cedric This new theme is incredible! Much easier on the eyes with the slightly less bright colours and everything is compact, neat and easy to find. The text font seems to look slightly different on this theme aswell which I also like. Great work!

I play the lottery, but not very often. I actually went out to the shops an hour or two ago and bought two tickets for the EuroMillions draw tonight, mainly because I saw an advert on TV that there's 10 UK Millionaire Maker codes being drawn tonight. A million pounds would be absolutely lovely to start 2025! 🥳

I love snooker aswell actually, although I'm not very good at all! I remember celebrating like an absolute madman when I managed to put together a break of about 30 once a few years back. I don't play very often at all, maybe a couple of times a year, hence probably why I'm not very good, but I do enjoy it on occasion. :) I enjoy watching snooker too. I dabbled in boxing when I was much younger, but I was way too overweight and simply not fit enough, if I didn't finish somebody in the first round I was a goner. :ROFLMAO:
23. I've never left a forum without my presence for more than a couple days on vacations etc, but I took a break of around 5-6 years from pretty much all participation on or administering of any forums, blogs or websites, and only recently came back into the world of forums about 3 months ago. I'm really enjoying my experience since gravitating back towards them, and wouldn't completely rule out another crack at a forum in the future.
24. This is a great opportunity to get some free posts for your forum, and we stand by ready to deliver on your orders! Please do bear in mind that it's a super busy time for us over the holiday period so it may take upto a week or so for your order to be fulfilled, but we will get to everyone! Happy New Year Administratans! :)

Happy New Year and I hope that 2025 brings happiness and renewed success in all aspects for everyone. :) Drinking tonight for sure, so prepare for a drunkard in 8-12 hours. :ROFLMAO:
