1. Getting this rolling,.... I bid 20 credits. 😉 (edit: I was too slow lol)
2. Cost of a business license, a PO box, and a checking account. Maybe fifty or so.
3. I personally don't like to do that. Too often a staff member has this thing called 'life' that gets in the way. I prefer a 'gotta take some time off' message and I need to be cool with that. And if they want back in, its a no-brainer. But I do really like a heads up. Nobody likes being ghosted.
4. Also: If you find a cool name that looks great and sounds like what your site does and is of any quality, DO NOT publish that name online asking if you should register it. Because if it is a good domain someone else will register/buy it and hold it hostage for higher than reg/buy fee, faster than you can hit page refresh. Carefully look at the spelling. Is it Therapist.com or TheRapist.com to the viewers minds eye. Gotta be careful of how other people may perceive your branding. Don't be stupid. Stay away from registering any domain that even hints at trademark dilution. You might get some good traffic in the beginning. But it can be legally ugly. When choosing a registrar to house your domain, you shouldn't be paying more than $13/yr and you can pay less than $10/yr. And don't get with a registrar that makes you get on the hook for more than two years, preferably just one. You will have to renew on a schedule anyway, usually annually. You can change/transfer to other registrars mostly anytime you want if you are not satisfied with your current one. Rarely do they catch you with a transfer fee. Set your domain privacy protection to ON. Set your domain transfer lock to ON. Set your domain to auto-renew if using credit card. This way it will not expire and not slip away from you forever if you miss the renew date.
5. Spidered, indexed, and listed in the SERPS. Two months ago I started a fresh forum. Setup Google Analytics/Dashboard on day one. Left it to be found organically. Month and a half later, I have 10 pages of links on the Google SERPS, and a lot more spider discovery going on by the other search engines. So far so good.
6. OK, I'm throwing my tin foil hat in the ring too. https://classifiedtopsecret.com/ Classified: Top Secret provides a modern fresh community for those that have interest in; UFO's, UAP's, Aliens, and anything related.

Yes they detained someone walking around with a blowtorch or peanut burner or something.

The only place you will soon be able to get insurance is where nothing bad really happens. And still expensive.

I don't live in Florida because of storms and insurance. I don't live in Cali because of earthquakes/fires/insurance. Ya gotta find someplace kinda safe. If the insurance company thinks it is a risk, I think the same. But I really feel bad for those folks. Its devastating.

Looks great, love the name.
11. I remember my first forum. No knowledge, no connections, no nuttin'. Since then, and several forums later, I have learned to appreciate all past/current/future admins that I meet from forums as they are often a willing source of great information or idea's for your forum as well as blunt honest feedback that you can use. That's what I see here at Administrata. People with the same goals helping in a community fashion. I wouldn't even try to do it again like I did back in my beginnings.
12. Thank you for that link Cory The numbers speak volumes and is interesting.
13. The smaller the community, the more likely burst-posting will be obvious to a viewer on the what's new listings. I don't think it can be helped aside from having more members posting on a particular day.
14. On first development, I canned tags and prefixes. To me it just adds clutter but I understand it has purpose in forums. Just not mine, yet. I also reduced the sidebar on forum home. I don't want every last link possible on the home page. I want it to be lighter weight and less cluttered. Yes, I hate clutter lol.
15. I have not been sharing or promoting with the exception of admin forums as you see here. My first order of business was getting the functionality and layout done. Not fully satisfied with how it looks but it is going to stay this way for awhile yet. My punch list consists primarily with tightening up some areas that bug me, as well as expanding the features available to member groups, as they make sense. My prioritization lays entirely of content right now. But I am drafting a few things that may be very good for the community. To be fair, I am one of those types that is always adding to the punch list and knocking it down by need. It never gets completed.
16. Just having passed my "1st day" (I didn't really have a so called launch though), for me its all about content creation and maybe fine tuning some things. I have a punch list about a mile long of things I want to do, but right now just filling some forums and pages etc. I want my guests to have enough browsing material to keep them interested.
17. The best drummer that ever was.
18. And that's where parenting failures occur. It is never 'controlled'. Many parents don't have the technical wherewithal (or care to) to understand and protect children from the world. And then the governments try to create a safer environment for kids, and they get bashed for even thinking of that.
19. Since when do underage kids get rights ?! All I got growing up was privileges. And if I screwed up .....
20. Honestly, I think AI in the consumer side, is nothing but a detriment to society. I mean, already people think twitter x is news lol. Sound bites are more informative than articles. Nobody know how to write in cursive. And ask someone to do some long division by hand. Yeah, let AI give us more tools so we dont need to know as much. edit to add: sorry, got off topic on my pedestal

Welcome!
22. Shawn Gossman A Synology NAS can operate as a webserver. They aren't "too" expensive. But it isn't a standard Red Hat box.
23. I prefer a VPS (which is in essence a shared server). I like the scalability if needed and usually has pretty low latency compared to a standard 'shared' server.
24. I make the statement on my site, and will ensure, that no AI, no post bots, no none of that on my forums. It can be slower. But it will be real.
25. Although my post was as sarcasm, many a webmaster has been caught click-spoofing ads. Now I know nowadays the advert suppliers can detect human interaction (and they don't pay for otherwise), but for some reason website operators sometimes try to squeeze out every bit of revenue, and they get carried away. And the big boys have some pretty interesting tools in their systems. I am not saying they will be doing this, but the temptation for large websites has to be enormous.
