What is the creepiest thing to have ever happened to you?
Home on leave after I graduated basic. Was out on my bike with friends. About midnight I had to leave. Had to catch a train back to base. I was riding down a twisty turny road that was great to ride. That was about 0015 or so. Next thing I remember I'm at an intersection on a road I wasn't even close to. It was also 0600 the time I had to be on the bus. I don't know what happened with those 6 hours. Think about it all the time.

What's your favorite beer?
I like craft beer. Depending on how I feel I might like a good Rauchbier or Dunkel. I also like a good IPA or Stout. Anything made by small craft breweries works for me.

Invisioneer
I remember when the announcement was made to discontinue the marketplace. Many said that will be the death of IPB. In the end they came out stronger. While the mod and theme makers, for the most part, are the most vocal in a community they really are in the minority. Many users, like me, use software as stock. We are normally the ones that buy the software, install it and you never hear from us again. I've been to Invisoneer a few times. I think I have an account there.Been a while because I strayed from IPB for a few years. Might have to stop by and check it out again.

How do you identify potential moderators for your community?
I watch activity. If there is a person that is active and adds content daily I'll drop them a PM and ask if they would be interested in being a staff member. I've made some good friends over the years and found good staff members by doing it that way.

Invision Community v5 enters Beta
I got hit by that. I dropped down to 8.2.26 until they fix the problem.

XenForo 2.4 coming soon?
Very well thought out and to the point. My post in that thread rings true no matter what Cris D said in his reply. If someone visited xenforo 10 years ago they would see the same things with the exception of a style change. They don't know that there was enhancements or new features. It doesn't past the eye test an longer. They can't rest on their laurels any longer. One comment about "build it they will come". When I was an admin at TAZ I came up with the idea that certain niches just attract users and you could build a forum and "they would come". I created a team and we started 5 forums in what were the most popular niches. One was gaming and another anime. Don't remember tha others. Those 2 stuck out because they actually did take off. So back in the day it was somewhat true.

Invision Community v5 enters Beta
Installed beta 6 yesterday at http://freepchelp.forum. I love the way they married the old dated forum list to integrate recent topics. I felt beta 6 was stable enough to put one of my big boards on it.

A trip down memory lane: The Evolution of Invision Community
I was there for the whole ride. I had Ikonboard installed and was building an importer so I could move off UBB. Just when it got finished vBulletin was silently released. It had been talked about for a few months on the UBB forum. It was supposed to be a new version of UBB that had a mysql backend. InfoPop didn't want any part of it. The same thing happened with UBB and vBulletin that happened when xenfor came about. No actual lawsuit. UBB did an audit of the code and found no remnants of UBB code in vbulletin. I grabbed a copy and installed on a test site. I started to convert the import script from IkonBoard. John and I talked and he had an importer already built so he gave it to me to test. We were both converting million + post forums. Importer worked perfectly. If vbulletin was released a couple weeks later I would never had switched to vbulletin. I wound up on IPB after the vbulletin 4 fiasco.

Does adding new add-ons excite you?
I don't use many addons. The only one I use is the directory addon by Bob. For a while I've been clamoring for a way to move old posts out of the database and into static files. That was during the days when I had a multi-million post forum. For old threads it was a perfect idea. If one of the static files got a new post it would move back to the database if it wasn't closed. I collaborated with a user on the forum to create the archive. We successfully moved all the data by date specified to static pages. Only thing left to do was format the pages to look like the site. We stopped development when I sold the site. It's still something I'd like to see. For big boards with huge database it would make things easier.

Does adding new add-ons excite you?
It takes more to excite me these days. Used to get excited browsing the addons at vbulletin.org. Seemed like there was always something new. These days you don't see the innovation you used to. The task addon and blog were first new things I seen on xenforo in a while.

Wordpress 6.7 has been released
Upgraded my blog this morning. Had some issues because the Wordpress servers were overloaded. Auto update didn't work all the way. Had to download and upgrade the old fashioned way.
