What's easier, reviving a long dead forum or starting a new one?
My son and I started a forum in 2015. 2 weeks after we started it his wife told him she was pregnant with his first daughter. I took over the site by myself. A week later I had my first stroke. I left all the sited dormant for a couple years. The new site got off to a good start in the 3 weeks it was online. Fast forward almost 20 years. I for the most part am healthy, still some effects of the last stroke I had 4 years ago, and my son has 3 daughters and a son. We are in the process of reopening the site. The domain was available so we decided to open it. Will it work? I think so. The soft opening, after emailing the users, has brought back some of the original users and we had a couple new signups that became active. One thing I am doing is leaving the site on xenforo 1.5.24. It was originally on 1.4.6 so I upgraded it to 1.5.24. I like the simplicity of the 1.5.x line. It was what drew me to xenforo in the first place. Once open I'll post in the directory here so you can check it out. I am working on a pay per post system using Dragonbyte Tech addons. You won't get rich, but, could make a few bucks posting on the site.

Have you ever wanted to create a forum for a specific niche, but didn't?
I had a forum for referees of all sports geared towards youth and high school athletics. I coached football and baseball back then. It was popular until the school athletic departments put up their own forum.

XenForo 2.4 coming soon?
Again bringing things to xenforo that other software had for years. If you're waiting for anything groundbreaking from them you'll be waiting a long time.

Trump Closes USAID
It's inline with his policy of America First. The platform he stood on and what got him elected for his second term. Everyone knew this was coming so the surprise and shock is disingenuous at best. Not for me to judge. He only did what he said he would do.

Invision Community V5.0.0 Officially Released!
I deleted all the 4.7.x files except for upload folder, constants.php and config.php. Uploaded the files from the zip and went to /admin/upgrade to to finish. There was never an option in the admin cp to upgrade. Only option in admin was to read the upgrade docs. This was an upgrade from 4.7.20 to 5.0.

Invision Community V5.0.0 Officially Released!
I am a little disappointed that there isn't a one click upgrade. Other than that I am glad they kept to the dev timeline and released in the time frame. To uograde it will take some planning. When I uogrded one my sites early on I removed all files except for the upload folder. Another way just wouldn't work.

What decade were you born in?
50's. The German countryside. Cities still showed damage from WW2. The countryside was beautiful and so peaceful.

Anybody running a ham rig?
Ham radio is universal. All the bands are the same everywhere in the World. Each country decides what license class gets which bands to operate on. The language is also universal. Morse code.

Anybody running a ham rig?
The only band you can legally broadcast on without a license is 11 meters which is CD radio. That used to need a license 100. My callsign was WNF1068. It was deregulated in 1984 or so. I think there are a couple UHF frequencies you can broadcast on, but, those are short range communication. Each country has different ways to license. I think Japan is one of the hardest.

Anybody running a ham rig?
So much different now. In my day I had to pass a code test first then theory test to get a Novice license. Then more code and more theory for Tech, General, Advanced and finally Extra. I taught novice code classes for a while. At the end we would give the class the test and if they passed we would have a little party for them.

Anybody running a ham rig?
I'm a ham operator. Callsign N9KN. I run a Kenwood TS930S.HF rig 10Mto180M. I have a homebrew Drake TR4CW HF rig that I just rebuilt. 250 watts operates on 10-80. It's a CW only rig. I've been licenses since 1980. I operate in 20M CW most of the time.

Looking for sponsors!
In reality xenforo isn't close to 50%. This list is updated daily. It uses the top 1 million websites for its data so it might be skewed since the mom and pops aren't represented. https://trends.builtwith.com/cms/forum-software
