Would your community survive without you?
When I had thought about calling it quits with one forum I had (RX Community), two of my must trusted staff members were going to take over but I figured that things wouldn't be the same without me, so I just went ahead and closed the community after four years... even though I didn't want to do, but I felt I had no choice.

When is it appropriate to send a mass email to your members?

Actually, I'm not all that fussed as to how big it should be, although going by the fourth page of the design concept, it can be 576px by 56px. Overall, it looks marvelous. Kudos! (y)

What topics are off-limits on your community?
Well it does in general... and also makes people feel cranky as well.

When is it appropriate to send a mass email to your members?
Sending a mass email to members is a good way to bring them back to your forum, but only under certain circumstances. One thing where it can be done is letting them all know that a forum has reopened (like I did last month), and of course if you're running a contest, where I know that can really reel them back in. But what about other factors like, to announce a new skin or general major updates to the forum? I know that sending an email just to bring them back isn't ideal and isn't professional either. Discuss...

What topics are off-limits on your community?
I may consider barring political discussions on my forum in the near future, especially as someone who hates politics now...

Tracking Your Traffic
I had someone make up a "tracking info page" for me, where it came in the forum of a plain text document that showed how the new visitor found my forum, the URL that had landed them to it as well as their IP address. Right now, I'm using Google Search Console for the very first time.

Are smaller communities better than larger online communties?
Smaller communites are better, because there's a better chance you'll get to know everyone there, as long as it's active enough though...

Does a new skin help attract more members?
That's what I was saying in my original post :)

Does a new skin help attract more members?
This is something that I've wondered about for a while, and I hope I'm not the only one that thinks this. If the admin adds in a new skin for their forum (providing its suitable to most peoples eyes and also good choice with colours), does this help with the rate of guests becoming members? I ask this because, I experienced this phenomenon twice in the past. In late 2008 when I had RX Community, after having quite a horrid skin with medium-dark colours and an amateurish-looking banner from me (where I had blamed that for lack of guest activity even coupled with the fact that I was offline for some part as well), everything changed when I applied a skin that was specially made by someone of the official ZetaBoards support forum where it had a much fresher appearance and as soon as I broke the news about it, guest traffic had increased and many of them became members. And, in late 2017 I believe with The LightWeb, again with a skin made by someone specially for it, the same thing happened again. Now I'm wondering if this will happen once more for my current forum when the new skin for that is ready (it's still being worked on as I speak) or, am I being delusional here... ๐ถ Discuss, anyway.

How often do you get new members?
Even though my forum doesn't gain much members, I know it gets at least six a month (but on the contrary it's only a few per week or so).

Font is too thin
Now, I have another complaint... if I ever want to set the text to bold, it doesn't appear bold at all (even in preview mode). This text is supposed to be bold, but for some reason it isn't. And yet I can put it in italics, underline it or strike it through. But not make it as fat as an elephant's rear end just for the sake of emphasis. Could be that the font is restricting that... sorry for giving you all this hassle Cedric.

The Share an SEO Tip Thread.
Recently, I've found this very useful, although I only made use of it yesterday and would take a wee while for guest activity to explode... What it does it submits your forum/site to 379 search engines but overall, it actually submits it to over 200,000 websites. Although, there's an extra 79 search engines/directories to submit to manually.

Word-of-mouth... the best advertising strategy?
In the years I managed forums, I always found that word-of-mouth is the best strategy to get members on your forum, as long as you know the person very well and trust them to bring in like-minded people for the forum itself to flourish that way. In fact, I even encourage it on an occasional basis. What about you? Do you do this yourself and have you found the benefit of it? And do you agree that it's the best way for your community to grow and flourish? Discuss...

Forums are not as popular as they once were.
I didn't say that it was a forum though... I'm just meaning that people were using that more instead of forums. Of course that can be said for Reddit and such.
