I also have a pinned thread for minor updates, but the more major ones have a thread of their own. I would also send out a bulk mail for anything really big, such as a new skin or perhaps when the forum gets a domain name of its own...

I'll tell you something... if I wasn't stupid enough to set up a Discord server even as a replacement for Jcink's faulty shoutbox, it would've been still standing. However though, one forum I know is still going well despite having a Discord (where people just have silly banter amongst each other there).

My main outdoor activity is go out and do some photography... but won't be doing that as much now given that I've done it for over 15 years and well, I would have to refrain from walking too much as part of it (as I'm getting sporadic pains around my ankles and heels now).

Virtually everyone had to start their communities from scratch following the Zetaboards-Tapatalk fiasco years ago... even I was caught up in it after creating a forum (The Lightweb) months before that announcement from the backstabber that was Brandon. However, I took a different approach and made a new community instead, which is what I have now.

He has done so already, but you need to create a new forum category to store its data...

I completely agree with this... as someone who lost activity on my forum from its Discord counterpart (and towards its eventual closure, on top of other reasons at the time). If any of my members ever requests this, I will give a firm "no".

Telegram is only good for Putin sympathisers and general cyber criminals but... I wouldn't even touch it with an iron pole for those reasons.

I wish Jcink had a Likes system... just saying. Also, ProBoards has no feature where you can back up your database should anything happen (ZetaBoards lacked this as well, and made worse regarding the Tapatalk crisis years ago...).
