The logo is white for users on dark mode
As of this post, it isn't up yet... probably Cedric was busy with other matters or something. Also, may I point out that the logo appears rather... fuzzy around the edges. Was that saved as a JPEG by any chance? If so, having it as a PNG file would be most beneficial and you can have it transparent also, as long as that it can blend in with dark mode well.

Getting a specific geographic audience
Although my forum has decent attention by visitors from all corners of the world from all the promotion and SEO stuff I've done so far, I would like to seek a targeted approach regarding more of that work, and that would be appealing to people from certain parts of the world. As someone from the UK, I'd like to see more British visitors flock to my forum and even for them to become members too (bonus points if they're from Scotland, so that I don't feel alone, haha) and maybe want the forum to appeal more to Europeans as well. I say this because I'd to see typical guest/member activity be constant as right now, not many people are online according to my timezone but somehow gets more from North Americans overnight. I had achieved this for an old forum I had before... Even though I'd like to see more European visitors on average, I'd also like to appeal the forum to anyone in Estonia (as this is a very tech-savvy country, at least from personal knowledge, especially when that brought forth Skype). But the big question is... how can I possibly do this? Would I have to submit my forum to specific search engines or something (like anyone else submitting theirs to Baidu and Yandex, to get themselves Chinese and Russian visitors)? Hope anyone here can help with that because I'd much appreciate it...

Should forum owners be subject matter experts?
Only that for my case, I was a social science student last year and do know certain elements of it... the only problem I just had was being unable to get a target audience. I'll just stick to my wee techy forum :P

Hello.
Oh hey, I know you ;P Anyway, welcome! :)

Should forum owners be subject matter experts?
Pretty much me when I once had a social science forum... 🤦♂️

Do you prefer to do your own SEO or do you hire someone to do it?
I'm hopeless at coding, but I did have someone who helped create a "tracker" page for my forums before (which came in the form of a plain text document showing the IP address of the guest plus the source they originated from (like from a Google search or clicking on the link on my sig).

Do you tend to join/avoid sites that use a certain forum software?
Oh, I didn't know that. Interesting... can you tell me what'll be in store for it?

Would this also apply to lurking guests to become posting members?

How hard do you find it to build a target audience?
In late August, I launched a forum to do with social sciences, and that flopped miserably (especially when I don't think many people out there, or at least those I know, would know anything to do with them). On the flip side though, I knew someone that ran a forum to do with a very obscure video game series called Keitai Denjuu Telefang and he managed to find moderate success with it.

"Mark forums read" button missing
Found it... it's just that I'm more used to seeing a big button for it at the forum index page and even one for the "What's new" page also.

I steer clear away from ProBoards forums, especially when years ago ProBoards themselved had nagged you to turn off your ad-blocker. Maybe not as much now but wouldn't take the chance. I'm also not a fan of SMF forums either, as I feel it's very outdated, more than what Jcink is anyway.

"Mark forums read" button missing
The vital button for me or anyone else to mark all forums read is missing... can this be added in please? Thanks.

I use neither. I just cross my fingers to see if anybody turns up via the Online List...

What was the first forum software that you ever used?
I used InvisionFree during 2004-05, back when I was a total noob. Then I used ZetaBoards in 2008 where I felt it was more modern then and that I had matured also.

New Forum Admin Advice; Post on your own site regularly
I try to make new threads on my forum on a regular basis, but it's difficult I must say...

What's easier, reviving a long dead forum or starting a new one?
I reopened mine just over a week ago, and things have been fine since (even if it's after five years since I had shut it).

Same here, only that you helped out on that :P And yeah, I've done some SEO work myself but for my forum had only done it recently so it may take a wee while for guest activity to increase substantially, and also for the likes of Googlebot to crawl the forum again.

Encouraging your forum members to invite others to join your forum
I've always done this with my forum and others I had in the past. Plus, I find it more beneficial so that I'm not wary about some strange from the unknown coming along... least I know others are mutual friends of my members and it'd be natural for me to trust them as soon as they sign up.

What do you do to attract visitors and gain traffic?
I honestly can't remember... it was a long time ago. By the way, I did submit my other old forum to StumbledUpon years ago and got a lot of visitors as soon as I did that, but nothing else came out of it.

How long have you been managing communities?
Well to be honest with you... not much difference, but one forum I was on in the past, after rejoining it that is, is relatively quieter than it used to be but I'm not all that fussed about it. Although, back in 2019 (and perhaps earlier), I once theorised that Discord may replace forums given its popularity then but I don't think that's really the case...

For one forum I had in 2009, I simply submitted it to some SEO site and days later I saw guest activity explode, I mean really. Also, creating a new skin that's easy for everyone's eyes helped this too. My current forum once had a "minimal" theme which saw a quicker rate of guests becoming members but sadly it's gone now... but I hope to have something similar in the near future :)

I started managing forums since 2004, but only two that were successes in the past (during the time I use ZetaBoards). When I first closed my current forum in 2019, I thought I was done with foruming completely, until I found the confidence to get back into it again after such a long time.
