  1. Awesome project idea. I dropped you a follow on BlueSky and on Spotify. Hopefully I get to catch up your rants some time. Also, I really enjoyed that teaser trailer. Best of luck with it!!
  2. It definitely will be interesting. Usually HBO stuff is good, so I am assuming the show will be very different from the movies and a lot more in tune with the books. To be honest, I feel a bit uneasy about it, since people are already overanalysing every bit of information that comes out. I would like to watch it once it comes out, if I can.
  3. I think the Godfather on its time, probably did consolidate the mafia movies and became a good blueprint for them, which is where the praise might come from. Nowadays that formula has been refine and used to the point where I am not surprised if it feels underwhelming. I watched it once, didn't love it, but then again, the genre might not me my jam. I am not sure what movie I felt overrated, but I know I have definitely felt underwhelmed after watching something I was expecting to be good. I think the Joker movie, in a way? It is not bad, it was what I expected, it just didn't feel like The Joker to me, just some guy... though, again, it could be the movie itself was not my cuppa so while I enjoyed it, I am not going to be rushing to watch it again any time soon.
  4. Best of luck everyone! Voted. C:
  5. In paper sounds good for the long run, so hopefully it won't be too confusing. Same. it'll be interesting to see.

Oh! awesome, I watched wrestling today as well. Taking advantage of my day off played some WoW cataclysm classic. To be completely honest, I missed the craze back in the day because I am an easily distracted person who wants to read the quests and most people trying to get me in where rushing so I didn't feel comfortable. I am also not great at confrontation so I am a coward about the PvP aspect, but my friends are all in PvP realms. Yaup. I said that in present time. So far so good though. Partying with someone and taking it easy is a complete different experience for me and I am enjoying it lots.
  7. Definitely not paying more than $2 for beta entry, but I hope they get enough noise to get the funds they need and can properly block bots. The switch from "this is a human" to "this human's claims are verifiable" without compromising personal data is definitely a step forward. I think it is needed in general this could be huge. There we go. I had not put it together that maybe he is just too attached to his own even if it'll be 'competition'. Oh well. I guess having choice is a good thing.

Thank you, guys. I am already feeling the love. 😊
  9. I struggled a little bit with the formatting but the article itself is really good! I think you nail it with a lot of the points covered. Friendly disposition, making you feel appreciated for your contributions even if you feel like it is not much and overall like you are welcomed really helps. Having small competitions that are not a huge effort and for the fun of it have been effective in getting me out. I loved those "write a caption for this image" kind of weekly activities. At some point the call to throw your hat in the ring is just too good to pass. I think I used to be a light poster even back in the day, compared to the more dedicated members even though I'd login almost daily. Nowadays I am pretty much a lurker. The posts you've seen lately from me around the netz is me trying to combat that and get myself used to express my opinions more. I think it is a mixture between feeling like I don't have enough time (I take too long just replying to the same topic in comparison to other people and it is not just about being slow typing) and the more years that passes in my life the less I feel that sharing my thoughts is worth it. For every post I made I think there's like three other threads I scrapped full paragraphs and decided against posting altogether and there is possible another 5 topics I thought I'd reply later and then I talked myself out of it and that is no counting the ones that got my interest but then I lost the urge to reply once I actually found time for them. So overall I get the nudge from a lot more content that what I end up engaging with. The approaching lurkers is a double edged sword because it really depends how you come across when you approach people. A very friendly hand can make a huge difference for some of them that really wanted to engage but are just scared because they don't want to screw up and feel rejected or humiliated. Many years ago, I think when I was Zelda Universe, I had a nice moderator left me a friendly text on my profile because he saw me online, thought I was a newbie and and checking my profile was surprised when he realized I had joined a long time ago. This exchanged ended up becoming a nice chat that went on little by little between lurks and what moved me to jump to the community. ZU was so big and active even then that I was very intimidated because I felt no one would noticed me anyway, but that moderator made me feel the opposite. I am sorry if naming ZU directly is against the rules but I hope it is illustrative as another old practice they have is adoption, where any member can volunteer to adopt newcomers and then they help them see different areas and with their first posts and thread so they can have a first friend and support to break out of their shells. very importantly this is optional for the newcomers so they can ask to be adopted if they want this but also can go their own way if that's what they prefer. I think this is really really neat and I wish it was more wide spread. I feel it can help shy newcomers to not become lurkers out of fear. Again, to reiterate very good article and one that I will possibly come back to if I get a community I want to get the ball rolling.
  10. I came here ready to ask OP to define "over engagement" for them, because it seems like we all can be having different ideas. Then I found out it was posted as a question itself, so the purpose of the thread then is for us to define what could be that point and if we could reach it. I am probably going to be against the grain here and say that I think there can be a point when leaders can over do it. Now, to clarify, I agree with what most people are saying in the thread and I am not counting that as over-engagement. For example that when a forum is getting the ball rolling it is pretty natural that a lot of new content and replies will be from the staff. It is just logical that if you are interested you have to put effort. So of course, if only the staff is there at the time, they have to be the ones keeping the community alive. Joining a new community and seeing the admin name everywhere is not what I'd consider by itself over-engagement. In fact not doing it is the best way to see your community go no where. We all started that way. For me when an engagement felt excessive was when the admin didn't seem to have a sense of boundaries. You love the theme, you love the niche, you love the threads and it all looks really cool and active and then you get this admin being pushy and disrespectful in the way they engage with the new members. Some stuff I recall happening more than once: Being made moderator within the same day of joining for no reason or merit and then demanding I do stuff for them. --- Erm, you can't force engagement like that. DMing me (as a reg. member) and ask me why I hadn't post in X days, but not out of concern for me just to gauge my 'excuse' and tell me what average of posts I should be able to do a day. --- I'll be the one deciding how to spend my time, thank you very much. - Almost daily trying to guilt trip me into inviting more people and voting for their banner in those rank-towers websites. --- I don't mind being asked for a favour or a public thread to let us know that's a way to help but harassing and guilt tripping your member base that's a different thing. Overruling moderators in public for abso-freakin'-lutely no reason. Calling out people for not replying to a casual conversation thread they were tagged in like is this big deal. Like, sure, they care for the website and are trying to make it grow but that is just one of the fastest ways to scare people off and get a terrible reputation not just for your site but for yourself as admin. I know I have seen threads of people saying that won't join any community made for X person because of past experiences. That is for me what would look very desperate for attention or control. TL;DR: I consider over-engagement when you do it to the point where you lose respect for your community and rest of your staff. Specially if you are trying to force that engagement instead of just keep it respectful and use positive reinforcement rather than manipulative tactics to get your growth.
  11. Yeah, as much as I am fond of the old digg, I am not sure what it can contribute right now. I mean I like the idea of trying to make a better space online but I agree with the comment that AI moderation is going to create a lot of messes. I think a lot of us old schoolers are starving for genuine interaction AND moderation so the idea of automating through AI is giving me whiplash, hahaha. I am also intrigued on why revive digg when Reddit is still going on. Wouldn't it be better to use the time and resources to enhance reddit and expand functionality? Maybe I am missing the bigger picture.
  12. I was at first concerned, but if it is optional to earn cosmetic rewards that sounds more reasonable.
  13. I default to stay up late if leave to my own reign. I am definitely more productive afternoon and easily drift into past midnight. It is a reason why i don't stream as often nowadays. I am afraid that when I do evening streams I have no self control and will ignore alarms and keep playing when I am having a good time well after midnight, haha Given my work schedule and that my youth is behind me, I have had to force myself to go to bed and wake up early constantly and while I am a bit more used to wake up early I don't really feel refreshed and ready to bounce up. It is a drag. Hahaha.
  14. I am probably shooting myself in the foot but it'd probably be one of the the longest films ever, like the 14 hour "Resan" (which I haven't watched) to maximize my chances. :ROFLMAO:

Congrats! I downloaded doordash not that long ago, it has been pretty convenient as a consumer, haha. Glad to hear drivers are being well paid, haha.
