Why do people buy forums and just leave them to die?
I'm not really sure why they do this. Maybe they just want to buy a big forum, to say they own a large one but then don't do anything with it which is disheartening.

Social Media Presence
I do have Facebook pages set up for some of my forums, but I honestly only promoted them once and mainly got bot traffic and no interaction. Again, I didn't really look into using ads to boost the content on my page though. I'm not sure if that would help. I think the only forum that might benefit from social media posts that I currently own is Gex forums. Maybe Free To Be Us can too, but it depends on which social media platform I post the link on. (Plus right now I'm still in the process of moving it over to vBulletin.)

Is a blog really just a forum with other users unable to post "new threads"?
I don't necessarily see them as a forum. They're not as organized as a forum can be, and sometimes blog posts aren't broken up into paragraphs so it can be more difficult to read than a forum post IMO. Again it's just my perspective. Blogs are more like static websites than forums to me.

Do Ads Ruin the Integrity of Online Communities?
The only ads that interrupt and ruin a website for me are the ones that are hidden in text that look like clickable links as well as pop up ads. I don't mind banner ads at all.

What's the most toxic social media platforms you've used?
Twitter is hands down the worst and most toxic social media platform that I've used. I never used Truth Social, but I'm sure it's another cesspool. Some parts of Reddit can be toxic, but most of the bad subreddits were removed a few years ago. There's still a few questionable subreddits that should be removed, but I don't know if they ever will.

What happened to some of the oldest free forum hosting sites
Like others have mentioned most of them were sold to Tapatalk or just shut down. There's still plenty of free SMF hosting websites, in fact they're all owned by the same guy VBgamer. He also owns Createmybb, the only free mybb host that's still online that I know of at least.

What Hasn't Been An Forum Subject/project yet?
It's nearly impossible to come up with a niche that hasn't been done before. The only thing I can think of is creating a community based around a big project you're working on, such as a game but most companies unfortunately use Discord for that these days. There could be a community based around a specific game that is so obscure, that there's not a community based around it. Again though, most gamers sadly use Discord for that these days.

Tumblr adds Reddit-like ‘communities
Seeing that post about the Game Gear screen replacement made me chuckle, as a Sega nerd. Anyways this just proves that forums are amazing, and I think companies are seeing that again. Though it kind of irks me when I read articles that say stuff like "As other communities and forums on the web have died out or been eaten by Google". They just don't understand that forums are still around, and quite frankly are the better options for organization. This just looks like Twitter/Bluesky/Threads and isn't organized like those platforms.

A trip down memory lane: The Evolution of Invision Community
I remember when Sonic Retro used IPB 3.x. They since moved over to Xenforo though, but IPB 3 was definitely my favorite version of the software. I've used Invisionfree and Jcink before in the past. I never joined a forum that used 2.x though, but I wasn't online much until 2008.

GTA VI leaks
Huh, I didn't know it was going to take place in Vice City. I think these are legit, but you never know. I wonder if it will come out next year or if it will get pushed back again.

Best Non-Self-Hosted Forum Software
Hands down it's gotta be Jcink. It's one of the only few free forum hosts that allows you to make database backups of your community. If you ever want to move off their platform you can. Though since the forum runs on a modified IPB 1x, you'll need to convert to older software and then upgrade to the latest version of whatever software you've converted to. (phpBB 2 is the easiest to convert to. I've done this and was eventually able to convert my forum to an old version of SMF and then the latest version.)

Have you ever been involved in car accident?
I've been a part of a few. None of them were my fault, and none of them were serious just little fender benders.

How many forums have you had (and what where they)?
I've had quite a few throughout the past decade. Most were related to video games, specific franchises. I've had a couple Pokemon related forums, a Sonic related one, a Mega Man one, a webmaster one, a paranormal one, and a few general discussion forums. I currently own an inclusive one, a general discussion forum, one based on a gaming franchise, and a promotional one that I need to work on more.

Why did you start using forums?
I started using forums to talk to people who researched the various glitches found in the Generation 1 Pokemon games. Also to talk to other Teen Titans fans as these two forums were the first ones I joined and sadly neither one of them exist anymore. (Glitch City only exists as a Discord server now and Titans Go is long gone.)

How do you insult someone without swearing?
Sarcasm is a good way to insult someone without resorting to cuss words. But honestly, I'm one of those people that if I'm going to insult someone I'm going to use swear words. xD

20 Threads and 80 Posts for Extreme Tech Support
I have completed my part as well. :)

What topic on your forum has the most replies?
My chat thread has the most replies on Gex Forums as well as Thee Zone. It's hard to keep engagement going in the on topic threads on Gex Forums at the moment because the Trilogy was pushed back to next year and there hasn't been a new Gex game in a while. Plus I don't really hear much about a modding community for the games, if I had the time I would dive into modding the games but I have enough projects as it is now. :P

Day 1 Forward- Something new
I look forward to seeing the end result! This is fun, usually most people will create a forum in secret and maybe tell a few people about it before it's open to the public. Then they share links to these people, they start making posts and then it gets a grand opening. Or they make it, install themes, and promote it to the public.

Sacking of staff
I've only sacked a staff member who was inactive. I sent him private messages and since he never responded or logged back in, I demoted him. I also made the mistake of hiring someone to be a co admin on a gaming forum I used to have on Proboards. She ended up deleting the theme I had installed and installed a bunch of themes that didn't fit the niche of the forum. I demoted her and banned her as well, now I know not to just hire someone I don't know.
