I don't mind if my members don't use avatars. I always use an avatar on every forum I join though, if I don't have one it's probably because I forgot to upload one and just wanted to go straight to posting on the community.

Which forum software are you using? If you're using Xenforo, they have a pages plugin you can get where you can write articles about the Wild or write opinion articles about how the team did in past seasons. Though I would mainly focus on your community first and then once you gain traction maybe think about integrating the pages plugin or use Wordpress if you want a full on blog system to post articles on.

I like how all these social media platforms keep doing things that you can already do on forums. It's almost like forums actually work and these social media platforms have to imitate a forum! I'm hoping these platforms will implode on themselves soon.

I believe Nomad means you can look at the Accepted template in this thread to see who signed up as who. Though there's a problem with that, a few members didn't list their usernames on the forums. I signed up with two gmail accounts, Seth and Maria were the accounts I created. I think Logan might be one of us, but I'm not sure. You might also be able to check ip addresses too, but again people can use VPNs now so that might not help.

If my forum got too big to the point where I couldn't be a moderator and Admin, I would definitely need more hands! As for being the sole staff I've done this on a few different forums. Right now I'm the only staff on a few of my forums, there's only two where I have additional staff. So the straight answer would be no I couldn't run a forum by myself if it got too big.

I have revived an old forum based around the game Mighty No. 9, but even though I sent out a mass email no one came back. :\ To be fair, the game kept getting delayed and when it did come out it wasn't as good as it could have been. I had over 100 members, close to 200 and it was pretty active when I first opened it after the game was announced and the kickstarter went live.

I own about 6 or 7 I believe. I have to take a look again lol. Some are being used on forums I haven't done much with, one is used on a NSFW forum that I don't really want to go into details on it, and some I haven't used in a while. I should probably look into selling some of them.

I mainly just use Google analytics, when I used Xenforo I used it's built in tools to see how many new people joined as well as other stats. I also use Google Search Console to see how my sites are doing SEO wise.

I often go with paid themes for my forums, well at least with the forums using premium software. As for the forums I use free software, I just go with a free theme.

Interesting, I see you went with Discourse instead of Invision this time around. Any particular reason why? Just curious is all! Good luck with your forum!

Some subs have automods that will delete comments from accounts that have little to no karma unfortunately. I remember when I first joined back in 2013 I was a bit discouraged and wondered how I was going to get a lot of karma to participate in more subs. Turns out luck I guess was on my side because one of my coworkers at the time found a purple pepsi bottle and I posted it to Reddit, so I got thousands of upvotes from the post lol. I'm not upset about Reddit taking this hit either, I use it daily and don't mind it but forums are way better.

It depends on what they did to get fired in the first place. If they compromised my site in some way, they will definitely be placed on a no rehire list. If they did it because of lack of activity, I would consider rehiring them but place them on a probation period in order to be sure they'll stay online and not abandoned their position again.

Good afternoon everyone! I only get today off of work, until next weekend. My work will be shut down on Saturday and Monday, so we get a three day weekend. It's rough having one day off of work though, I barely get time to do anything. :\ I have a feeling this is going to be a long week too, since everyone is going to be in the office tomorrow once we run out of work to do they'll probably end up sending us home early like they did to me twice this past week. (I left early yesterday and on Thursday.)

I am super happy to see that ForumSpark is returning again! I was happy to see Jamie promoting it a year or so ago, and was a bit sad to see the project get abandoned. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on this again!

Thee Zone was a merger of three of my existing communities so I think merging and rebranding can really help a community out! It is interesting that a few different communities have done this within the past month or so, perhaps seeing it happen often is giving the same idea for other admins and they decide to jump on the rebranding/merging trend while it's hot.

I don't think everyone would be on board with this idea. You'd have people wanting their own community with their own rules and might not like the approach taken by the staff on this one mega forum. I get the concept is good on paper, but I just don't see it working out.

It's sad to see what's going on in California right now. Then you have my part of the country getting winter storms, it's crazy.

I prefer unique content written by humans. AI is a powerful tool of course, but to me nothing beats content written by a human without the help of AI prompts. I believe it's much better for SEO as well,

Good afternoon everyone! I got to leave work early today since we ran out of work to do. The mail didn't run today in honor of Jimmy Carter, and my work relies on the post office. So worked whatever trays of mail we had, and since we had compliance courses to take some people worked on them. I finished my courses yesterday because we ran out of work for a brief moment, so I got to leave early.

I'd love to purchase freetobeus.com, but I definitely can't afford it. I used to own the freetobe.us domain, but let it expire and someone else has it now.

I don't get annoyed, even if it's just small responses it makes me happy to see others post around my forum.
