What was the last tv show that you watched?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I finished up the series for the third time! I plan on starting Angel tomorrow, I started watching it for the first time in 2018 but stopped watching it for some reason not really sure why.

What are you listening to?
- What if your partner or co-owner vanishes?
First before demoting them I would reach out to them to see how they're doing. Like you said, life can get in the way at times and if you reach out to them before straight up demoting them it shows you care about them. Sometimes a person can't communicate well and they might just up and leave for a bit. Give them time and I would start looking for a new co-admin if they don't reply within two weeks or make an effort to log back into their account. If they come back at a later date, it might be a bit more difficult for me to promote them again. I would put them on probation for a few weeks and see if they stick around. Then I would possibly rehire them if they continue to log in and do what needs to be done.- 10 Simple Ways to Get More Users on Your Forum
Also think outside the box when you promote on social media platforms. What I mean by that is join other sites like Mastodon, and Bluesky. Mastodon is part of the fediverse and there's plenty of people who use these platforms to get away from the big corporation sites. Also get a feel for whatever software you decide to go with when starting your forum.- Is It Just Me?
This looks like a great community that is very welcoming. I'm definitely going to join soon, everyone could use a community like this from time to time.- How Much Content Should You Have Before Launching a New Forum?
I don't have a magic number but I do like to fill out all the sub forums with at least 2 topics to have some content for potential members to dive into when they first join. Though perhaps having a set number might be a good idea!- RPG Haven
This thread is for the general discussion of the item RPG Haven. Please add to the discussion here.- Community Chat Thread
Good afternoon everyone! Been working on a new project again, I need to promote it here I've already promoted it on Admin-Junkies, Forum Promotion and even Bluesky. That's the next thing I'm doing btw lol. I'm also almost done with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, then I plan on finally finishing up Angel.- Question and answer sites: good or bad?
I believe they serve a purpose and aren't bad. They offer helpful information to those looking for it, and heck in some cases you can easily find the answer you're looking for because someone else had the same questions that you did. They're not really good for getting to know other members though, but there's other platforms for that purpose.- 5 Skills You Need to Have to Be a Great Admin
These are all great points and anyone who wants to own a community should have these skills. Or at the very least, have someone there to help them with the technical side of things if they don't have that skill. I think many forums fail because people don't give them enough time and effort, they give up too easily whenever they don't have new members or new posts. You need to put the work into making a community too and you can't rely on others posting if you're not.- What are some things you come to understand as you grow older?
I've come to understand why people care about money so much. The older I get, the more frugal I've been getting. I never really put much thought into trying to save money when I was in my 20's, and I ended up making stupid decisions that really affected my wife and I. I would spend money on video games instead of trying to save up for spending money on rent and bills. It also didn't help we both worked dead end jobs at the time barely making minimum wage. I also see why people get more bitter as they age, your health starts deteriorating and older people are more set in their ways so they hate change and express it in negative ways.- NodeBB v4.0.0 has been released
It's pretty cool that there's forum software that's part of the Fediverse now! I noticed more and more people are starting to switch over to the Fediverse and I think we might see a rise of forums again thanks to NodeBB joining the Fediverse!- What social media platforms do you use to promote your forum?
Oh I forgot I used Youtube in the past to promote my websites too, but I feel like it didn't really help much. I also had only 100 something subscribers then and I'm getting closer to 400 now. That's not a lot, but hey maybe it could help. :P- Chat 💬 web [Deleted]
It's really cool you have a inclusive community in Spanish! I don't understand Spanish well unfortunately, well enough to have conversations. Good luck with your community!- How do you build a community from scratch with limited resources?
This is really cool! You can save quite a bit of money if you host it yourself, now you only have to worry about paying for your Xenforo license and domain name.- FlatPress: A Database-less Alternative to WordPress
I've never heard of this alternative before. I might download it and install it just to test it out! I love discovering new forum, blogging, etc. software to test out. This reminds me of DokuWiki which is a mediawiki alternative that also doesn't require a database to store information.- How do you build a community from scratch with limited resources?
I started my most successful forum on free hosting! Well eventually we did move to self hosting, since my co admin couldn't fully edit the theme since our host limited what we could edit even when we did pay for their premium service. It was powered by phpBB 3 at first, and I got lots of members since I created the forum shortly after the game's kickstarter was announced. If you can put the hard work and dedication into your project, you may be able to have a successful community on free hosting/software. For example the Sonic 3 A.I.R. community is powered by Proboards and it's very active. It started on a Discord server but moved to a forum. (Sonic 3 A.I.R. is a very popular PC port of Sonic 3 and Knuckles made by a fan and it has many different mods.)- Administrata Lottery #2 - Ready to win big?
11 and 41- Have you ever lost your temper as a staff member?
I've gone off on a staff member once, I sent her a private message and demoted her because she messed up the theme on my forum. I was rude in a nice way at least, I didn't call her any names but I was quite firm in my private message.- Hellooo!
Hi Guy I've missed you! I'm glad to see you're back into forums again! I hope you're doing well, welcome to Administrata!- Changing Your Community Software
I didn't have any issues merging the three thankfully. The converters really have come a long way, they work well. I merged VG Challenges into Rikaji. Then Battlebots Nation and Rikaji to create Thee Zone. One of the admins did reach out to me but it's been almost a month since they've updated my support ticket. I know they did mention they were running into issues with version 6.1 and phpBB conversions so I'm sure once they figure out what's causing issues they'll give me an update. (I hope lol. I'd hate to let that cloud account go to waste, but I do wish they had standalone convertors like other software do. I'd prefer to do the merge myself but alas there's no public convertors even for self hosted vBulletin.)- How long does it take for you to know a forum software?
I have no styling skills myself, I've only attempted to make my own style for Invisionfree once but I just don't have the patience for it. As for learning my way around the ACP, it doesn't take me too long these days to get used to a new piece of software. When I first got into forums, I struggled getting permissions to be set up properly on phpBB 3, now I know it like the back of my hand even if it's still too complex compared to other software. (phpbb 2 was much easier to deal with.)- Changing Your Community Software
I've done this a few times. Thee Zone was originally three forums, and each forum was on a different software! I wanted to merge them together since they had similar niches, VG Challenges was on Xenforo, Battlebots Nation was on SMF, and Rikaji was on vBulletin. Thee Zone is now on the latest version of Woltlab Suite. I thought the free CMS along with the forum would help since I post articles about games, and opinion pieces. It wasn't too difficult to get things merged together, but I have experience with moving websites. I'm currently trying to get a forum moved from phpBB over to vBulletin, but the vBulletin devs haven't had time to complete my request even though it's been a couple of months since I purchased a cloud package. I think vBulletin will help this community shine more and I hope they can complete my request soon. :S- Administrata Lottery #2 - Ready to win big?
13 and 31- Happy birthday Hulk
Happy birthday to my good friend Hulk! - What if your partner or co-owner vanishes?
