1. I agree, it is a powerful method of promotion. Once you build a well-known presence in a network many people will come to you and recommend you for their resource needs.
2. If you slap your advertising banner in your signature on boards you contribute to a similar niche as your board, and you'll likely receive followers.

That is some wise advice! Yeah, clients are more likely to hire someone with a good amount of knowledge that will give them the biggest bang for their buck!
4. House of the Dragon S2, E7! Now I'm waiting for the season finale this upcoming Sunday. I bet it's going to be good!

Is there such a thing as a digital business card, or is that more like what a portfolio is for? If I had an online business, I would probably make digital business cards to send to people when they are interested in my work. Whether via email, messaging, or other means of contact.
6. I get writer's block when it comes to creating new topics on my forum. I try to think of more unique topics, but my brain goes completely blank.

I don't have any backend or design skills, so you're quite ahead of me in those fields. I would like to become a junior front-end web developer one day, but it seems like a hard field to get into since people who need programming expertise usually want you to know the whole package deal.
8. I usually use Camel Case to use variables and function names that make sense to its purpose. I use a JavaScript beautifier tool to make my scripts readable. I know many text editors have beautifiers by default, but a lot of my scripting at the moment is used for the Jcink forum software and most of my code typing is in the board wrapper. I've never used JavaScript comments much, but I probably should use them to some extent.
9. I prefer sticking with .com or .net as it's what most people will likely remember. I wouldn't mind having alternative, redirect domains for other domain extensions, but I'll stick with .com or .net for primary usage.
10. Being a forum resources board, I primarily depend on advertising and word of mouth. Advertising helps me indicate what I have to offer through signatures, advertisement forums, affiliates, and more! Word of mouth is great because people will gradually start to notice all you have to offer and tell other users a good place to find X resources.
11. I notice a lot of resource creators specifically on the Jcink forum software use Tumblr to promote their resources and work. I could always try it out, but social media isn't my type of thing, and I'm more capable of promoting on other forums.
12. I'm nearing 2000 members and I've been flying solo for years, but my board has minimal activity compared to many boards with that many members. I think size/activity is a good indicator of how many staff members you need, and the amount of expertise you need on your board. Some boards almost run themselves, but some boards need a heavy staff team to keep it going, so it also depends on the niche.
13. I agree with you to a tee! A degree can certainly be helpful to obtaining a career in programming, but to become a professional programmer you can be completely self-taught. Many professional programmers are self-taught and excel in what they do.
14. I never see those "The Complete Idiot's Guide" books anymore, but the "For Dummies" books are everywhere. I've not read through any of my coding books extensively enough, but I like the "For Dummies" series and O'Reilly Media when it comes to learning via books.

When I grocery shop, I grab whatever sounds good to me as long as the price is decent. When I shop for non-grocery items I will generally look for the best deals whether it's offline or online. Often when I see something in a store I want I'll look it up online and find it for much cheaper and order it online. I'm on a tight budget now, so I'm watching how I spend my money.

I'm fluent in the first three. I've always been a front-end kind of coder. I tried learning Python once in a college course but gave up realizing it wasn't necessarily the coding path I wanted to take.
17. I don't believe I've ever used social media marketing for my current forum. It would probably help bring in an audience, but I prefer advertising the old-fashioned way. I can't find myself engaging in social media much because I don't even care about social media and prefer forums over social media any day. My forum is also specific to one platform, so it's probably best to find places to advertise across that platform alone.
18. Bingo, it's not about fame or finding an oversized audience for me, it's about something I have a passion for and can enjoy.

21. I've read bits and pieces of a lot of the "For Dummies" series myself. I have a few of the eBooks on my iPhone.

Welcome to the forum, Teegold! May you find this place to be of use to you in your online journey!
23. When I played the old Yu-Gi-Oh Gameboy games I would use cheat codes to obtain cards that you would normally have to get in booster packs. That's the only time I ever recall using cheat codes.
24. There are so many resources and avenues to learn coding these days. They have documentation, videos, books, code camps, apps, etc. If you find the resources that suit you best, stick with them and learn them gradually, and try not to rush learning how to code.
