When is it appropriate to send a mass email to your members?
It almost sounds like something a child would say, so I imagine he could have at least been a teenager.

What features do forums lack?
I could add alerts through JavaScript as I have done on some other codes, but it would be an AJAX hog. John is fully aware that people want this feature. A "reactions system" topic was semi-recently posted in the Feature Requests forum, and the most viewed and replied-to topic in that forum is for a "likes" system, which was locked because people probably kept bumping it begging to make it happen.

How long have you been managing communities?
I was 5 years old at the time. :ROFLMAO:

Incentives For Posting
I was about to say, that would be weird if Jcink had a feature that IPB didn't have.

Incentives For Posting
I assume they at least have it available as a plugin?

He seemed pretty serious. I still send bulk emails when I have important information for my community. For the user in question who threatened to call the cops on me, I changed his email to a fake one. I'm pretty much following the law if that be the case because they give consent when they register and I send nothing more than major updates related to my board.

Also, you have to hover over the likes/dislikes area on each post to view the count, and you don't receive alerts when someone likes/dislikes your post. It's a sub-par code for the most part. But, it's the best you'll get using JavaScript.

Incentives For Posting
What are your primary go-to incentives for posting on your board? We have a shop where people can buy items for points they gain from posts, but in all the years it has been up barely anyone has used it.

When is it appropriate to send a mass email to your members?
Apparently never because I had someone threaten to call the cops on me once when I sent out a bulk email regarding board updates even though I included the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. He could have opted out of receiving emails from the site when he registered too.

Wheaton's Law
There's a site dedicated to not reading the TOS on sites: https://tosdr.org/ It is indeed a lie that nearly everyone commits to. TOS, privacy policy, guidelines/rules, you name it! Wheaton's Law can cover many banable offenses because it can constitute spamming, flaming, trolling, bullying, etc.

Would your community survive without you?
My community wouldn't survive without me. As the owner, I am the primary person to complete code requests, answer support topics, and keep building the resources.

Hurricane in Florida
My online friend explained why the government may want to cause such an impact, which had similar facts to what you posted. If any country were involved in the impact of the hurricanes, it would be a sad world we live in. But, I don't get how meteorologists are involved. What power do they have? Who did it in Dubai? Their government or another country? My online friend says they can make hurricanes worse and alter directions, so she thinks.

My GTMetrix score is 81%, I guess I'm just afraid of that decreasing if I add more third-party JavaScript in.

Forum² - A Community for Forum Enthuisasts [Deleted]
I don't think I've heard of (m)any forum owners hosting their forum on their home server or even having a home server. That's pretty neat! I'm glad you are safe from the hurricane and the board should stabilize soon!

Let Me Introduce You to Me
It's awesome that you remember it and that there may be some of your members a part of my forum. I'm surprised when people join who don't have a Jcink board. (y)

Hey everyone, I went on a Pokemon GO adventure with my father today, which we haven't done in quite some time now. Usually, we just play at home, work, or in public settings such as eating out or shopping. We caught some nice legendary Pokemon and some other good Pokemon too. I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

That's pretty cool. Too bad you have to have server-side access to make use of it.

Favorite domain provider?
I use Namecheap as well. I used to use GoDaddy way back in the day, but I've heard so much negative criticism about them these days. Namecheap is also the domain registrar that the forum software I use recommends.

What topics are off-limits on your community?
If it's against the forum software's TOS or illegal in general, it's off-limits. Everything else I would probably allow, but I would keep a close eye on the topics to make sure they don't get out of hand.

Tracking Your Traffic
I think my jaw just dropped. I can't submit a sitemap for my forum I don't think since I use non-self-hosted software. What's the "indexnow" feature? I have about 10 pages worth of links on Google. Suffice it to say, that my SEO must be very poor.

How do you ensure that your community’s content aligns with its values?
Not sure if this topic applies to my board much since I have a resource board where the main focus is to provide resources and services. I will say that I have the off-topic sections as the last category on the board index due to their "insignificance" when compared to the primary forums of the board for our purpose. I'm the main one producing resources while everyone else is mainly using them, so I suppose this topic could apply to me in the sense of encouraging members to post resources as well.

My topic is now an AMA, so ask away! :)
