1. As someone who has always used non-self-hosted forum software, I'm curious what your opinion on which one is the best. I know self-hosting is generally the better route for various reasons, but please don't turn this topic into a debate between self-hosted and non-self-hosted forum software.

My sister is in the same boat. My parents visit her six times a year and sometimes I go when I have the extra cash.

Are you saying that's the type of forum you plan to have? A general discussion forum?
4. I think burnout can occur in many different ways of life, even if you're passionate about it. You don't always want to overdo something where you become burnt out on it. You can take X amount of time to engage in the forum activities and moderation as a staff member, you don't have to sit in front of the forum 24/7 to be a dedicated staff member. Prioritize the time you spend doing things you enjoy and are required to do. I used to get burnt out on helping people quite often and I kept pushing myself to help people with their forums and coding assistance to the point where I was driving myself a bit crazy in doing so because I felt like I must be there for people 24/7 because I was addicted to what I did.
5. Ever since I've been in love with JavaScript, I love building onto existing features or creating new features through JavaScript. I don't try to overdo the amount of JavaScript I use because I know that's bad practice for several reasons, but my board does use a pretty good chunk of JavaScript for various aspects that enhance the board. Overall, there are many aspects I consider "exciting" but the coding always gets me fired up.
6. Welcome aboard, Heatman! You are most welcome here! :)

So now we know how you remain functional. 😅
9. I rarely watch TV, but my father turned on Everybody Loves Raymond and I've been watching it with him. We have been laughing out loud the whole time. We watched this show consistently when I was younger, and it remains funny. I think the last show I finished watching was Game of Thrones for the second time and that was probably over a year ago.

Not a whole lot, but I'm actually off this Saturday. I used to work a lot of Saturdays, but I've only worked about 1 in the past 4 weeks. Saturday is the day that takes us the longest to do our morning inventory process, so it's nice to have the day off. What do you and your mom usually do when you spend time together? Do you live alone or with someone currently?

PMs can be read on the non-self-hosted software, Jcink. However, there is a privacy warning that PMs could be logged or monitored even when disabled.

It was morning when you posted that and now it's evening. How are you? The sixth work day in a row tomorrow then I have a day off at last.

Someone's an addict. 😅 I played Modern Warfare off and on for a long while, but if I remember correctly, my level never got very high.
15. I don't think I've ever seen a tabbed sidebar before. That's a pretty neat idea. You could have tabs like "Account Information", "Recent Posts", "Users Online", etc. I agree that there is no need to go miles long down the page for the contents of a sidebar. I keep my sidebar decently sized enough that a 768 height resolution (like mine) can view all of the contents and it's in a fixed position that scrolls with the board.

I assume they could read private messages sent between users?
17. These look amazing, SarahKik! Thank you for your contributions!
18. A combination of it all. Growth is the common denominator that helps your forum flourish! Without growth, your forum would slowly wither away.

I'm browsing via a Google Chromebook.

This is the only PWA app I use. :)
21. I keep my sidebar minimal so it can fit decently on my small resolution. A user of my board was talking me into expanding it once, but I think the more minimalistic it is, the better. I present the essentials and not something completely unnecessary that you can find on other portions of the board that would take up a lot of space in the sidebar.
22. 6. You can build on a foundation you already have created. Take my board for example, one of the primary reasons I created it was because Zathyus Networks got sold to Tapatalk and I needed somewhere I could convert codes and skins that I created and other people created that allowed me to convert their work. Another instance is you might have a website and you need a social outlet for that website to discuss matters pertaining to that website, a forum is a great starting point.
23. I remember .tk, didn't they have some sort of catch for using the domain?

Campaign or multiplayer?
25. This is a neat event! A great way to show how much you are thankful for and appreciate other users of the board!
