  1. If I'm at home, I check my forum multiple times an hour unless I have something going on keeping me from my forum. If I'm in public, I still tend to check it occasionally via my mobile device. I mostly check my forum to see if anyone has posted and needs help. I try to engage when possible. About 30%+ posts on my board are mine, so it's evident that I am active in my community.
  2. It's pretty neat that we got into forums the same way. For all we know we crossed paths on a Yu-Gi-Oh forum before we started engaging on Zathyus Networks. The World Wide Web is huge, but like in real life, sometimes "it's a small world after all".
  3. We have a notice at the top of the skins forum that we recommend they subscribe to skin topics for skins they use with email notifications turned on in case the skin is ever updated. I have live notifications on my board's Discord channel for new resources posted. Unfortunately, for the years it's been available there are only 30+ users on there. I suppose I could send a bulk email every time we release X new resources for users to see.
  4. I started using forums as a means to trade Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I'm still using them two decades later, but more for the webmaster, coding, and discussion aspect.
  5. I used PageSpeed Insights to help me find ways to improve my overall performance score. It's now 90%+ on mobile and desktop last I checked, which isn't bad for forum software you do not have back-end access to.
  6. I think by owning a resource board, my biggest struggle is having returning members. Many people come for a code or skin they want and then leave for good. I know I'm not doing everything in my power to keep members returning seeing as I've always focused on building up the resources consistently. Even if I were, I think it's still a hard aspect of the forum to maintain.
  7. That's what I dislike about big groups/forums. They are too hard to keep up with and it's like you're talking more to strangers than online buddies. I want an active forum, but not to the point where I can't keep up with everything or have multitudes of staff to keep it in check at all times.
  8. You have to be careful with them though, because some people take them too seriously and go over the top with the type of responses they give to others. I sometimes start with basic questions and "list" threads such as "Last film/series you saw" or "What are you listening to". Everyone can generally relate to those types of threads. I don't mind the good old Community Chat thread where everyone is free to offload their thoughts and say their hellos. It all depends on your niche, of course.
  9. Having hallucinations due to the medication I was on at the time, or the lack thereof.
  10. I've always had a nostalgia for the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG. I played the game a lot when I was younger, and now I mostly collect the cards. If I ever play anymore, it's usually on the Master Duel app on my iPhone. I have thousands of Yu-Gi-Oh cards, worth anywhere from $3000 - $4000 total.

I rarely play the lottery, only on special occasions like visiting the State Fair and buying a lottery ticket from the ticket booth. I don't know if I've ever won anything over $10.

  21. What non-self-hosted forum software gives you the biggest bang for your buck, or the lack thereof? A combination of UI, features, support, etc. Some great opinions thus far!

Gaining traction in this niche is pretty easy due to the many topics you can discuss. However, it is one of the more oversaturated niches.
