Your Most Recent Purchase
I bought $80-something worth of groceries, and then before that, I spent $40 on 5 different Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I have all 5 of those Yu-Gi-Oh cards plus a few extra ones right now, but I bought higher rarities of the cards and I plan to sell the extras on eBay when I get the 5 I bought in the mail.

All time favorite movies or shows?
I'm watching an episode right now. It was randomly on HBO.

Do you like using subtitles?
I don't like subtitles, I feel it distracts me from the visuals and I'm not much of a reader.

Biggest forum challenge to date
That's true that people love being asked questions about subjects they're knowledgeable about. That's partly the reason I own a resource board, I can attend to people's questions and offer my services to people less knowledgeable than me in fields that I am knowledgeable in. It can be a good feeling to talk about subjects you have a passion or keen interest in. Questions can be a great way to keep members coming back, but there are also those you find disappear and leave the question unanswered.

Those both sound like good reasons freelancing can bog you down. I know when I tried freelancing I either didn't have enough knowledge to do what the user wanted done or there was little to no interest in my services to begin with.

Node.js
I tried using Node.js once while doing a course that included its usage on Udemy. It's convenient to use a language as a server-side base for something you're already familiar with. Still, in the same sense, it made me realize there's a lot of Vanilla JavaScript I'm unfamiliar with. I've used jQuery for far too long instead of practicing Vanilla JavaScript. I could try to write my codes using Vanilla JavaScript instead of jQuery, but I suppose that takes away the convenience factor of jQuery in the first place. I've primarily used ZetaBoards and now Jcink as my means for web development and they both have had jQuery installed by default, which is why I've always found myself dabbling with it for so long. I know I'll never be close to your level of expertise, Arantor! You know like 500 times more than I know. But that's mainly because I don't apply myself or feel like there are no projects that particularly interest me enough to be motivated to try branching out. I'm stuck in my ways. When you or Tyrsson start talking about programming I feel like you are from a different world. 😅

Node.js
Do you think Node.js is a perfectly acceptable way to do server-side development, or are other languages such as PHP and Python much more powerful?

I hear that! I tried sites like Freelancer.com before and it's a competitive market. Awesome! Keep us updated, and I wish you the best of luck! :)

How often do you get new members?
I need 9 more members by the end of this month to pass my 52 member registrations in a month record. It is pretty exciting to see consistent registrations where guests show enough interest to register. I never thought I would see the day when one of my forums generally gains 30+ members monthly.

Can a forum have too many staff members?
Given that I said I have 2,000+ members and I'm flying solo, I think you are 100% correct that the posting rate is a much better metric than the member rate.

- Can a forum have too many staff members?
Considering I've been flying solo for years and I have 2,000+ members and almost 18,000 posts, I think a forum can certainly have too many staff members. When the board is mostly staff posting and not many members, you may as well make a private forum for you and your buddies. That's not to say forums are useless with little posting activity. As the owner of a forum resources board, I know I receive little posting activity from time to time because most people want to get their hands on the resources and don't have much use for the board in terms of posting around. I think there should be a staff-to-member ratio depending on the type of niche you run, where you possibly have X staff members for every X members, but you still don't want to go beyond a limit that seems too much. There are multiple factors involved in how many staff members you should have.- Forum/Website Reviews?
I like the thought of "drive-by" critiques more than fully blown-out reviews. Reviews can sometimes be run-ons and you can create a list of ideas you have to improve a person's board, you don't have to have everything in paragraph form. With that being said, people can already critique a user's board in the promotion forum if they so wish, so I think it's either unnecessary or as Bluezone777 mentioned, it can be an addendum to a current service. - Can a forum have too many staff members?
