I don't mind using free forum software since I'm a poor boy. It lets me pursue my passions and hobbies without burning a hole through my wallet. There may be some fickle rules that can be made on this software sometimes, but I've been content with the 6+ years I've been using Jcink. Free forum software is a great way to start in the forum world if you are new to everything, even for testing purposes. It will give you a feel for how the forum software works and what you can accomplish. If you start a forum using free forum software I would most certainly try to find forum software that allows you to download your database in case you ever want to upgrade to something more powerful.

I like the default skin you have chosen for the board. As usual, a custom logo is always a plus, and on the default skin at least, it looks like you need to hide some of the links from the submenu, such as the Arcade and Downloads since they are defunct if I remember correctly.

I think in the past decade I've only owned one. :unsure:

I unexpectedly had to go far out of town today with my mother to a doctor's appointment. I'm hoping to play catch up on various things to be done on some message boards I'm a part of over the next couple of days.

Competition is never a bad thing, but when you go from forum to forum and see the same types of discussions it can get to the point where they are oversaturated. The internet is naturally repetitive though; you'll find the same topics everywhere.

Yes, member engagement makes me feel my forum is more of a success than a failure. That gets me motivated to do greater things with it.
