I've tried all social media platforms when I had my mental health forum... and unfortunately, it didn't get much traction on either. if I were to rebirth my forum, I wouldn't use social media... however, Instagram has gotten bigger and more traction over the last year and might be successful if you were to create a page for your forum, or blog :)

I think it's the atmosphere and the members that you really want to stand out against others, and I think having regular contests is also a winning point for me to keep members involved and posting!

I think you should have at least 500-1,000 posts on a new forum and subjects to discuss within each discussion board. If you open a forum with hardly anything for new members to post or discuss, it can make it difficult to obtain members.

I don't have a payment provider on any forums, ever. However, I do think PayPal is the safer option out there, and I don't think I would use any other payment option on a forum.
