1. As a freelancer, I have gotten a fair share of criticism and feedback over the years. Handling negative feedback from clients is especially difficult, but I always take it as a chance. For anyone new to this, start by listening carefully and acknowledging their concerns without becoming defensive. Being defensive will only make things worse. You might be tempted to do this if you think the criticism is not fair but keep calm. Always clarify any points of confusion and offer solutions to address their issues. Also, show a willingness to improve. Dong this will help resolve the current problem and also strengthen your professional relationship and credibility.
2. I am currently playing FC Mobile and Shadow Fight 3. Have gamed on PC in the past, but since I switched to Linux I haven't bothered much with setting everything up on this computer. So now I play exclusively on mobile
3. I am just getting a business off the ground and will seriously consider hiring some freelancers in the future if it is successful. Many of the freelancers I have met and know are some of the most hardworking people and would gladly hand them some projects if I need to.
4. Gambling addiction is a very complex issue driven by a combination of psychological predispositions, neurological factors, and environmental influences, with studies finding that it has genetic components as well. Studies show some people are more impulsive, while others have a higher tendency towards sensation/thrill seeking or difficulty managing emotions. All these and other factors make them more prone to developing "compulsive gambling behaviours". Also, gambling often causes the brain's reward system to become overly sensitive. This can lead to dopamine-fuelled "highs" that keep the gamble-reward cycle going. Environmental factors like easy access to gambling opportunities, social influences, and high-stress life events can also increase the risk of developing a gambling addiciton. Additionally, gambling addiction often co-occurs alongside other mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, or substance abuse, which can make the problem worse. Addressing gambling addiction typically requires a multi-step, multipronged approach that includes therapy, support groups, and sometimes medication to target its underlying drivers. As Shortie has said, gambling is different in everyone, which is why there are guidelines for treating it but no wide-scale treatments because they have to be personalised and individualised for each person who seeks help depending on their addiction's underlying driving factors.
5. I love PayPal because it is accepted and easy to use in my country. Many of the clients I work with are also familiar with it, so that's another reason to work with it. I also have Skrill and Payoneer accounts for when a client insists on a different payment option. However, I do not use those as much, so I would not say they are my best.
6. Does this happen to you as well?
7. I watch quite a few shows, but many of them are on break. The last one I watched was Seal team, airs on Sundays on Paramount+. If you like the likes of 24, Six, and military type drams, you will love this one! Seal Team is on the 7th (and last) season, so you have some catching up to do if you would like to watch it.
8. No, until I have worked with them on several projects. Some clients want to take you off the platform so they can chance the terms of the gig or project. Some want to do so to increase the scope of work for the initial amount you agreed on. These are just two of the most common scenarios I can think of, but the bottom line is that it is never a good idea to go "off-site" with a client before you know them well first.
9. You forgot one; building actual projects. I was stuck doing/following tutorials until I started creating projects on my own. I noticed that my learning accelerated after that. The process of coming up with project ideas, planning, making mistakes, debugging, learning from these mistakes, and continuing did more for them than simply learning the material through tutorials and videos.

I have one main client and one I work with intermittently. I can take on more, but I am always thinking about commitment. Taking on too many clients runs the risk of missing deadlines or doing shoddy work. These two are the best ways to lose clients, so it is better to only have ones I can manage comfortably.
11. I am a mobile gamer and I install games regularly. Some are just poorly made, others are conduits for ads. I understand why developers add the ads and do not mind one or two here and there, but I do not want to see an ad after every round or every few minutes. It is extra annoying when it is the same ad over and over again. I delete those and move on.
12. We used cheat codes all the time in GTA. It was Vice City if I remember. I do not think games have cheat codes these days, do they?
13. Cheatsheets vs. reading the documentation whenever you need a reference? I have quite a few cheatsheets and especially relied heavily on the flex and grid ones from CSS tricks from a few years ago. However, these days I mainly read the documentation because the documentation for what I typically do (Laravel development) is well organised and detailed enough that cheatsheets are no longer a large part of my workflow. Do you have any that you reference regularly? Would you like to share?

15. Freelancing is my primary source of income even though I have been diversifying recently. Just reading the signs of the times tells you that freelancing might become a less viable source of income shortly. If you do not take steps to diversifuy, you might drown.

Crunk for work. I love those old school beats. I also listen to Congo rumba. Keeps me going
17. Many freelancers are caught in a cycle of feast or famine, juggling multiple clients and wearing all the hats in their business. It's exhilarating, but it can be tiring and lead to burnout. Everyone I talk to has been feeling the heat lately, and I'm curious: What strategies do you use to prevent burnout? Do you have a non-negotiable self-care routine? How do you set boundaries with clients? Any productivity hacks that help you work smarter, not harder? Let's share our experiences and build a toolbox of burnout prevention techniques. After all, a burnt-out freelancer is good for no one – not us, not our clients, and certainly not our bank accounts! What's your go-to method for staying sane in the freelance hustle?
18. Python and Ruby have often been touted as the best for beginners. I started my journey with PHP, and it suited me well because it combines different aspects of front-end and back-end development, which I like. The best advice I can give is to find one programming language and go as deep as you can with it. Once you do this, picking up a second or third one will be much easier because programming fundamentals do not change much across languages.
19. Many times it's similar words and phrases used in the reviews by different reviewers. Other times, it's reviews that do not make sense for the app in question. One time I saw someone say the app made it easier for them to measure a shed they were building. It was a review for a browser. The other thing is a discrepancy between the positive and critical reviews. It is common, expected even, that an app will have a mix of negative and positive reviews, with 2, 3, and 4-start reviews in between. But sometimes you see numerous 5-star and 1-star reviews, with few to no ratings in between. That should be a huge red flag that the positive reviews are likely fake.
20. I was a member of SitePoint some time back while I was new to the digital world. Learned a lot there and also worked with some incredible people I found through the platform.
21. Fake reviews are everywhere, even Trustpilot has been caught in a "pay-to-play" scheme in the past. It is really sad in the case of freelance sites because clients who come across such issues are less likely to want to work with independent contractors in the future, which limits opportunities for everyone. The few people who think they are getting ahead by doing this are actually hurting everyone. It's just like offering bottom-rate prices to attract customers. Anyway, I understand why people solicit fake reviews; it is rough out here for a freelancer!
22. Finance. It is such a wide niche to write about, which means you are always learning if you decide to focus on it. You also learn valuable and practical stuff that you can incorporate into your life as you research topics and content. A close second has to be healthcare for many of the same reasons.
23. I learned CSS naturally as I completed projects and needed it more and more for that. I also used to customize WordPress themes and that requires a bit of CSS, so that forced me to learn also. These days, I learn from guys like Kevin on YouTube. If you search for Kevin CSS on YouTube, you will find the guy I am talking about. If you are learning frontend development, there are now numerous platforms where you can code projects of varying difficulty to that will teach you the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills you need to become one.
24. One thing that I have discovered is that AI makes me a worse developer. Yes, it can be a crucial tool for a developer, but I have found myself looking up things I should know and that slows me down. I also do not like deligating my thinking to a computer because that makes me lazy and it will impact my skills in the long-term.
25. Thank you, I am already enjoying being here!
